KENNETT SQUARE — Kennett has a new head football coach to lead them into this season.
Doug Langley, who left Avon Grove after the 2013 season when the Red Devils finished with a 0-10 record, was hired as head coach of the Blue Demons. Langley’s appointment is conditional on being approved at the May school board meeting.
“Doug has a wealth of experience at both the collage and high school levels and has had success at every level,’ Kennett athletic director Jeff Thomas said. “He has great character and he will teach the boys more than just the X’s and O’s. He also comes with a great strength and conditioning background and certifications and he is a community person.’
The Kennett position came open when Scott Green resigned in January after three seasons at the helm. Green led Kennett to a 1-9 record in 2014. Langley said has to get familiar with the Blue Demons personnel.
“I have an offense and defense in mind but we have to see what we have,’ Langley said. “We have to get our weight room program going right now because we are behind some other teams right now. Being at Avon Grove before will help because I am familiar with what it takes to win in this league.’
