Main Line lacrosse wrapup: Shipley boys advance to FSL finals on Senior Day

The Shipley boys’ lacrosse team had a productive Senior Day Wednesday, defeating Westtown, 12-6, in the Friends Schools League semifinals.

The host Gators (9-7, 4-1) got out to a 5-0 lead at halftime on Senior Day (seniors Amir Fluellen, Tate Gallagher, Nick Ragaglia and Nick Gonzalez were honored) and will advance to the FSL Championship against Academy of the New Church May 14 at 2 p.m. in Bryn Athyn.

Shipley head coach Mark Duncan said, “Everyone played well today and the team was happy to have sophomore Will Drake back for the first time all season at close D. We had great ground ball work by Nick Ragaglia and Trevor Green and Nick Gonzalez; strong face-off play by Nick Yi and Tate Gallagher, who combined to win 17 faceoffs; and nice middie play by Zach Bradlow and Zach Henry.”

Gators standouts included Tate Gallagher (three goals, two assists, six ground balls), Amir Fluellen (four goals, one assist), Chad Allison (three goals, one assist), Nick Yi (two goals, one assist, 10 ground balls), Griff Gallagher (one goal, one assist), Nick Gonzalez (15 ground balls, breaking the 125 GB mark on the season), Nick Ragaglia (five ground balls) and Colton Gallo (12 saves).

Shipley took 50 shots on the day and Westtown junior goalie Matt Federau (from British Columbia) had 31 saves.

In other Main Line high school lacrosse action:

Malvern Prep defeated Episcopal Academy, 17-9, Thursday. The Friars standouts included Billy Coyle (two goals, four assists), Kyle Anderson (six goals, two assists), Adam Goldner (four goals, three assists), Mike Fay (one goal), Scott White (two goals), Addison Mueller (one goal), Jarrett Donaghy (one goal) and Andrew Clark (eight saves).

Academy of Notre Dame lost to Archbishop Carroll in overtime, 14-13, Thursday. Irish leaders were Caroline Allen (three goals, one assist, six draw controls), Julia Dambly (four goals, one ground ball, three draw controls), Claire Nappi (three goals, four ground balls, two draw controls), Makenzie Irvine (three goals, one assist, one ground ball), Kelly Coyle (one goal, two assists), Claire Gola (one goal, one ground ball) and Maggie O’Brien (one ground ball, two caused turnovers, one draw control).

Villa Maria Academy lost to Gwynedd, 11-9, Thursday. Hurricane scorers were Lauren Dunn (two goals), Annina Iacobucci (one goal, two assists), Audrey Fantazzia (two goals, one assist), Erin Finley (one goal, one assist), Brianne Bamber (one goal), Lucy Meehan  (two goals) and Caroline Antell (one assist).

The Harriton boys and girls lacrosse team each earned victories Wednesday.

The Harriton boys defeated Council Rock North, 12-5, led by Hakan Atillasoy (three goals, three assists), Patrick Stewart  (two goals, one assist), Justin Kruszewski  (two goals, one assist), Charlie Veasey (one goal, one assist), Marc Margolis (one goal, one assist), Will Stahl  (one goal), Michael Stewart  (one goal), Co Czworkowski  (one goal), Brysen McMullin  (one assist), TJ Arms  (one assist) and Ian Walsh  (10 saves).

The Harriton girls defeated Suburban One National Champions Central Bucks South, 11-8, Wednesday. The Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 8-2 at halftime.  Leaders for Harriton were Alex Ladda (two goals, one assist, two draw controls), Laura Lasprogata (two goals), Greta Stahl (two goals, two assists, six draw controls), Liv Tevis (one goal), Molly McDonough (two goals, two draw controls), Claudia Conrad (one goal, one assist, two caused turnovers), Allison Schwab (one goal) and Devin McClain  (six saves).

Baldwin School defeated Hill School, 12-7, Wednesday, led by Natalie Sgro (four assists, one caused turnover, one ground ball), Izzy Schaeffer (two goals, four assists), Marissa McGarrey (eight goals, one draw control), Eliza Thaler (one goal, one ground ball), Myla Barnett (one goal, two assists, one draw control), Carrie Schaeffer (two caused turnovers, two ground balls, one interception), Julia Greitzer (one caused turnover, one interception), Hayden Ivey (two caused turnovers, five draw controls) and Shayna Silverman (six saves).
