Roundup (April 22): Friz fuels Boyertown girls’ lacrosse in 11-10 win over Owen J. Roberts

Girls’ Lacrosse

Boyertown 11, Owen J. Roberts 10

Alina Friz starred with six goals and two assists and Boyertown (7-5) avenged an early-season defeat to give Owen J. Roberts (6-6) its first PAC division loss at home Monday.

Hannah Adamski had a goal, two assists and seven draw controls for the Bears, who got two goals from Kamryn Pier. Teagan Tyson made 11 saves in goal.

Methacton 15, Perkiomen Valley 14

A back-and-forth battle went the way of the Warriors as Bella Catania had 17 draw controls, four goals and two assists for victorious Methacton (5-6).

Piper Evangelista had four goals and three assists and Lily DeWan netted three goals with two assists for Methacton.

Leah Peifer scored five goals with two assists for PV (5-8).

Upper Merion 17, Pottstown 2

Olivia Smith played creator (1G, 6A) and Upper Merion cruised to a PAC Frontier win over Pottstown Monday. Sam Walmsley (2G, 3A), Maura Besz (3G, 1A) and Jessica Reinhardt (2G) were multi-goal scorers for the Vikings while Grace Solley, Sydney Reed, Chelsea Smith and Chloe Wardlow had a goal and assist each.

Brynn McClune scored both Trojan goals.

Pope John Paul II 12, Pottsgrove 3

Jill Cobaugh and Ava Zepp scored four goals apiece and PJP handled Pottsgrove in a PAC Frontier matchup Monday.

Molly Bachman added two goals and an assist for the victors, which got 10-save goalkeeping from McKayla Ellison.

Emily Sorg scored two for the Falcons.

Spring-Ford 22, Norristown 2

Gianna DiBattista scored five and Hailey Mozi scored three goals with two assists and Spring-Ford cruised by Norristown for a PAC Liberty victory Monday.

Megan Ruckman, Lily Fazio, Megan Curran, Rella Talley and Nadia Karalius scored two apiece for the Rams.

Phoenixville 14, Upper Perkiomen 10

Baseball

Upper Perkiomen 8, Upper Merion 1

Kyle Mazzie allowed only two hits and zero earned runs over six innings and the Upper Perk bats supplied runs in four innings to land the Tribe a PAC Frontier win Monday.

Mazzie struck out eight and walked one before Gavin Weiss struck out the side in a scoreless seventh.

Jordin Dice doubled twice in a 3-for-3, two-RBI day while Owen WIlliams, Brody Weiss, Evan Sands and Drew Graf each had a hit and RBI.

John Tomsho doubled for UM.

Pope John Paul II 9, Pottsgrove 0

Three PJP pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and the Golden Panthers blanked the Falcons in PAC Frontier play Monday.

Starter Carson Glose was 2-for-4 and went 5 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts. Luke Sandor and Pat McNerney each handled an inning in relief.

Luke Terlesky was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, Aidan Sgarra reached base four times in a 2-for-2, one RBI day for 14-hit PJP. D Simeone tripled and had two RBI.

Methacton 13, Perkiomen Valley 1

Methacton got three-hit games from Casey Behan and Kasey Humes as part of a 12-hit attack and the Warriors capitalized on six PV errors for a five-inning PAC Liberty win Monday.

Tommy Kratz was 2-for-4 with three RBI for Methacton, which pulled away with four runs in the third and five in the fifth.

Evan Jones got the pitching win after allowing five hits and a run in four innings.

Boyertown 13, Norristown 5

Gavin Slaughter had two-RBI singles in the second and fifth innings as part of a five-RBI game to lead Boyertown past Norristown Monday.

Gavin Trainer (3-for-4) and Easton Albert (2-for-2) had two RBI each for the Bears.

Luke Hagan (4 IP, 3H, 3ER, 6BB, 1K) got the pitching win while Devin Hoelzle, Connor Moyer and Louis Panunzio combined for zero earned runs in relief.

Softball

Methacton 5, Perkiomen Valley 3

Jillian McTamney’s two-run double led a four-run third inning that propelled Methacton to victory over Perk Valley in PAC Liberty play Monday,

Sadie Fitch threw 4 ⅔ innings of two-hit shutout ball in support of starter Lindsay Gebhardt (2.1 IP, 2H, 2ER, 5K, 2BB).

Sydney Hockenbrock and Soleil Bond-Johnson had two hits each for the eight-hit Warriors offense.

Sammy Peterson hit a two-run home run for the Vikings.

Pope John Paul II 8, Pottsgrove 7

The Golden Panthers rallied from down 7-2 in the sixth inning to prevail in eight innings on Abby Simmers’ game-winning RBI single.

Molly Houchins and Abigaile Millhouse each tripled and drove in a run for PJP while Kelly Murphy had a double, RBI and was 2-for-3.

M Gray was 3-for-4 for the Falcons, which got two-hit games from Bailey Pysher and Hayden Pysher (RBI).

Five errors cost Pottsgrove as starter Mikayla Eckman allowed seven hits and only three earned runs in 7 ⅔ innings with six strikeouts.

Lexi DiBricida got the pitching win.

Spring-Ford 4, Owen J. Roberts 0

Jess Fliszar threw a two-hit complete game shutout with nine strikeouts to carry Spring-Ford (9-2) past OJR in a PAC Liberty contest Monday.

Riley Gancasz drove in two for the Rams and Fliszar, Ally Burgess and Autumn Eck had two hits apiece.

Amelia Atkins was strong in the circle for OJR, going 6.2 innings, allowing zero earned runs on seven hits.

Upper Merion 5, Upper Perkiomen 0

Ava DiDonato pitched a five-hit complete game shutout to send Upper Merion past Upper Perk Monday.

Molly Gilliland homered, J Johnson was 2-for-3 (RBI) and Devon Maiden and Emily Volpe drove in runs for the Vikings.

Brooke Sullivan and Riley Eden had a double and two hits each for Upper Perk.
