Reporter/Times Herald Field Hockey Roundup: Pennridge uses 3-goal 2nd quarter to top North Penn

Pennridge 3, North Penn 1 >> Pennridge scored all three goals in the second quarter — two coming inside the final two minutes — while goalkeeper Maia Machado made 14 saves as the Rams won Wednesday’s SOL Colonial Division contest Wednesday.

Maddie Bross and Hannah Capo had goals for Pennridge,  North Penn outshot (22 to 8) and out-cornered (11 to 1) Pennridge (1-1-0, 1-1-0 division). North Penn’s Bay Detweiler scored the opening goal at 12:46 in the first quarter. 

The Knights (1-1-0, 1-1-0) outshot the Rams 22-8 and out-cornered them 11-1. NP goalie Mallory Stowell stopped five shots while Ali Hoffman had a defensive save.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 9, Hatboro-Horsham 0 >> Kaleigh Missimer scored the SOL Liberty contest’s first two goals while Ava Borkowski found the back of the cage four times as Plymouth Whitemarsh cruised to a win.

Molly Lynch had a goal and assist while junior defender Carly McGee scored her first varsity goal for the Colonials (2-0-0, 2-0-0).  Regan Gehman also scored, Darcy Miller and Hailey Copestick each collected an assist while goalie Sarah Track made four saves.

Upper Dublin 5, Quakertown 0 >> Jenn McCarry scored twice while goalie Dara Fishman made two saves in recorder her first varsity shutout as Upper Dublin earned a senior day victory.

Mikayla DeMichele and Maisie Hanson both had a goal and an assist for the Cardinals (2-0-0, 2-0-0 SOL Liberty), who led 3-0 after the first quarter. DeMichele converted a penalty stroke at 11:21, McCarry made it 2-0 at 3:33 off an Anabel Coplan assist while DeMichele found Hanson for a goal with 54 seconds left in the opening period.
 
Peyton Kullmann scored at 11:49 in the second quarter off Allie Rock’s assist for a 4-0 lead while McCarry tallied her second at  11:30 in the third with Hanson getting the assist.
 
Quakertown goalie Kylie Lerch made 17 saves.

Springfield-Montco 9, William Tennent 0 >> Ella Marino scored four times and Maddie Yoder added a pair of goals and an assist as Springfield-Montco rolled to an SOL Freedom Division win in its season opener.

Annie Coll, Emma Yoder and Anna Wojeck each had a goal for the Spartans (1-0-0, 1-0-0) with Anya Kochanowicz handing out an assist. Springfield goalie Erin Roy made one save.

Jenkintown 5, Plumstead Christian 1 >> Tanner Lafferty had two goals with Kaelin DiMaria collecting a goal and assist as Jenkintown claimed a Bicentennial Athletic League victory.

Rose McCafferty and Gabbi Ottaviano also scored for the Drakes while Cady Westkaemper and Adelyn Smith each had an assist.
