Reporter/Times Herald Field Hockey Roundup: Drabick leads Wisshaickon past CR South

Wissahickon 2, Council Rock South 1 >> Aiden Drabick broke a 1-1 tie with 2:32 remaining in the fourth quarter and Wissahickon stayed unbeaten with a Suburban One League nonconference win Friday.

Drabick also assisted on Ella Hummel’s goal that gave the Trojans (3-0-0, 2-0-0 SOL Liberty) a 1-0 lead at 14:07 in the second quarter. Kyle Hager pulled Council Rock South (1-2-0, 1-1-0 SOL Patriot) even at 12:54 in the qurter off an Amanda Green assist.

Wissahickon goalie Alli Wood made nine saves while Karlie McCloskey had eight saves for South.

Dock Mennonite 4, Delco Christian >> Celeste Derstine scored a hat trick as Dock Mennonite had a goal in each quarter in winning the Bicentennial Athletic League matchup.

“Great team effort today,” Dock coach Michelle Waldspurger said. “We were excited to play our first home game and we are excited to see how we continue to develop”

Derstine made it 1-0 at 13:48 in the first quarter with Eden Schrag doubling the Dock (2-0-0, 2-0-0 league) advantage at 9:35 in the second quarter off a Kylie Godshall assist.

Derstine scored on a corner at 11:26 in the third then recorded her third goal with 7:18 left in the fourth.

Springfield-Montco 3, New Hope-Solebury 1 >> Ella Marino and Molly McGoldrick both finished with a goal and an assist as Springfield earned an SOL Freedom Division win over league newcomer New Hope-Solebury.

Annie Coll tallied the first goal for the Spartans (2-0-0, 2-0-0) at 11:27 in the first quarter with assists from Marino and Any Kochanowicz. 

Marino scored at 7:38 in the second quarter off a McGoldrick assist with McGoldrick finding the back of the cage at 12:17 in the third. 

Springfield goalie Erin Roy made three saves while Lauren Corrado added a defensive save.
