Presenting 2018 All-Main Line field hockey teams

The Main Line high school field hockey scene featured some particularly strong teams this fall. Among Inter-Ac teams, Episcopal Academy (15-2-2) won the PAISAA title, and was ranked 12th in the nation by Maxfieldhockey.com, and fifth in Pennsylvania. Academy of Notre Dame (18-3-1, 8-2) was ranked 11th in Pennsylvania by Maxfieldhockey.com.
Conestoga (15-3, 11-0) won the Central League title, with second-place Haverford (16-2-1, 10-1) just one game behind. Among other Central League teams, Radnor (15-4) finished the regular season aon a 14-game winning streak and earned top seed in the District 1 2A tournament. Harriton (11-6) also had a fine season.
In the AACA, Villa Maria (21-4) won the PIAA District 1 2A title, and was PIAA 2A state quarterfinalist. Merion Mercy Academy (13-8-1) fell to Villa Maria in the District 1 2A championship final, and advanced to the PIAA 2A state tournament.
Archbishop Carroll (18-5) captured the Catholic League title as well as the District 12 2A championship, and won in the first round of the PIAA 2A state tournament, defeating Merion Mercy.
The All-Main Line high school field hockey teams are selected by the coaches. Because Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of spots available to first team, second team and honorable mention — but follows the priority of coaches’ selections.
What follows are the 2018 All-Main Line high school field hockey teams:

FIRST TEAM
Lauren Curran, Academy of Notre Dame – Senior forward, a first team All-Inter-Ac pick and All-Delco Player of the Year, scored 48 goals in 22 games and dished out 13 assists. She also scored her 100th career goal in a three-year period which was the fastest in school history. Boston College commit was named NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) PA Regional Player of the Month for September.
Mia Leonhardt, Academy of Notre Dame – Junior midfielder, a first team All-Inter-Ac and first All-Delco pick for the second time, scored 20 goals and dished out 23 assists in 22 games. University of North Carolina commit’s fine all-around play was vital to the success of the Irish.
Jessica Schneider, Academy of Notre Dame – Senior midfielder, a first team All-Inter-Ac and All-Delco selection, dished out 13 assists in 22 games and scored eight goals. A fine all-around athlete who starred in track last spring as a middle distance runner.
Keri Daly, Archbishop Carroll – Senior midfielder was the Most Valuable Player of the Catholic League, and led the Patriots to the Catholic League title and its first District 12 Class 2A title since 2015. Will play field hockey for St. Joseph’s University.
Maeve Riehman, Archbishop Carroll – Senior midfielder, a first team All-Catholic League selection, scored 15 goals and 17 assists, helping Carroll to the Catholic League title and District 12 2A championship. Will play field hockey for Rider University.
Charlotte de Vries, Conestoga – Senior forward was a scoring machine for the Pioneers, knocking in 59 goals on the season, a mark second only to Donegal’s Mackenzie Alessie nationally. She finished her outstanding four-year career at Conestoga with 173 goals and close to 100 assists.
Carly Hynd, Conestoga – Sophomore midfielder, a first team All-Central League selection, dished out 20 assists in 19 games, which was first in the Central League and second in District 1. A fine all-around performer, she also scored five goals.
Caroline O’Brien, Conestoga – Freshman midfielder was a strong all-around performer, dishing out 13 assists (second on the Pioneers). Noted for her ability to release the ball quickly and her intelligent play.
Caroline Kelly, Episcopal Academy – Senior goalie posted 143 saves in 19 games, with a .890 save percentage. Boston University commit was first team all-state, first team All-Inter-Ac, and the Churchwomen’s MVP. EA long-time head coach called Kelly, “undoubtedly one of the very best goalies I ever had the pleasure to coach.”
Maddie Rehak, Episcopal Academy – Senior forward, a first team Alll-InterAc selection, scored 23 goals in 19 games, dishing out five assists. A Bucknell University commit, she scored the game-winner in the PAISAA title game.
Gianna Pantaleo, Episcopal Academy – Senior forward, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection, scored 17 goals in 19 games and dished out 13 assists. The Boston University commit had a knack for scoring key goals this fall.
Lauren Devletian, Episcopal Academy – Senior back, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection and a two-time All-Delco pick, made 18 defensive saves. Committed to Dartmouth, the senior was considered the backbone of EA’s defense.
Ashton Odiorne, Harriton – Sophomore defender, a first team All-Central League selection, was MVP of a strong Rams’ squad, and her strong defense was a key factor in Harriton’s successful fall season.
Carly Gannon, Haverford – Senior forward, a first team All-Central League and All-Delco selection, was the Fords’ Most Valuable Player, and her strong all-around play included four goals and five assists. Penn State commit is noted for her intensity and wide range of skills.
Sydney Corcoran, Haverford – Senior midfielder, a first team All-Central League and All-Delco pick, was the Fords’ Offensive MVP, scoring six goals in 19 games. Old Dominion University commit was noted for her transition skills and contributions to the Fords’ strong defense as well.
Alex Lavelle, Merion Mercy Academy – Junior center mid/center back was named the Golden Bears’ most valuable defensive player for the second year in a row. An AACA all-star, she scored eight goals as Merion Mercy’s main striker or corners.
Tori Natale, Merion Mercy Academy – Junior midfielder, an AACA all-star, displayed a wide range of skills, scoring 11 goals in 22 games, dishing out six assists and recording two defensive saves. Committed to St. Joseph’s University.
Page Lowry, Radnor – Senior forward and second-year captain, a first team All-Central League and All-Delco selection, scored a school-record 32 goals in 19 games. Fairfield University field hockey commit.
Olivia DeCain, Radnor – Junior defender, a first team All-Central League and All-Delco selection, was the Raiders’ MVP. University of Richmond field hockey commit was noted for her ability to break down her steps and calmly come away with the ball, as well as her work ethic.
Hannah Miller, Villa Maria Academy – Senior forward, the Hurricanes MVP and the Daily Local News Field Hockey Player of the Year, scored 46 goals in 25 games and dished out 21 assists. Duke commit was a first team all-state selection for the second consecutive year. Was an AACA all-star, a Philadelhia Field Hockey Senior All-Star and a member of the PSFHCA All-Academic Team.
Adele Iacobucci, Villa Maria Academy – Senior midfielder and co-captain scored 17 goals and dished out 13 assists, receiving first team all-state honors. Noted for her intensity, speed and non-stop approach to the game, she is headed to the University of Virginia. Was an AACA all-star, a Philadelhia Field Hockey Senior All-Star and a member of the PSFHCA All-Academic Team.
Mary Harkins, Villa Maria Academy – Senior defender and co-captain, a first team all-state selection, was a versatile performer, scoring 16 goals and dishing out 11 assists in 25 games. Will be attending Duke University next fall. Was an AACA all-star, a Philadelhia Field Hockey Senior All-Star and a member of the PSFHCA All-Academic Team.
