Academy of Notre Dame (8-2-1, 4-0) defeated Germantown Academy, 9-4, Tuesday, getting four goals and two assists from Quinn Maguire and three goals from Tina D’Anjolell. ND goalie Katie Liebeskind recorded nine saves.
The Irish defeated Episcopal Academy, 3-1, Sept. 30. For Notre Dame, scorers were Lauren Curran (one goal, one assist), Mary Kate Neff and Mia Leonhardt. Notre Dame goalie Katie Liebeskind had thee saves, and ND’s Ava Leonhardt dished out an assist.
ND head coach Adele Williams said, “We played well as a unit both offensively and defensively. The girls connected well and were able to create many scoring opportunities. It
was a hard-fought game by both teams.”
The Irish defeated Penn Charter, 7-0, Sept. 28, as Lauren Curran recorded a hat trick.
Archbishop Carroll defeated St. Huberts, 8-1, Sept. 28. Meg Foster had three goals, while Sam Swart, Katy Curry, Hannah Bateman, Maeve Riehman and Julia Flood each tallied one goal.
Baldwin School lost to Penn Charter, 5-0, Tuesday. For the Polar Bears, midfielder Eliza Thaler and defender Maya Bindra had good games, and freshman goalie Menol Siddiqui had numerous saves.
Conestoga improved to 11-0 (6-0 in the Central League) with a 7-0 win against Ridley Sept. 29. Conestoga’s Charlotte de Vries and Kendall McGee scored the first three goals of the game, all assisted by Meredith Ross. Ross then scored the next two, assisted by Grace McEvoy and de Vries. De Vries scored Conestoga’s sixth and McEvoy put away the final goal of the game.
Episcopal Academy defeated Springside Chestnut Hill, 8-0, Tuesday, getting goals from Corinne Zanolli (two), Maddie Rehak, Olivia Tuma, Gianna Patanleo, Kathleen Anderson, Autumn Mueller and Louisa Baxter. EA goalies Caroline Kelly and Bridget Boyle combined for eight saves.
EA head coach Gina Buggy said, “It was a great team effort and we distributed the ball well.”
The Churchwomen lost to Academy of Notre Dame, 3-1, Sept. 30. For EA, Jenna Lotsis scored a goal, with an assist from Corinne Zanolli. EA goalie Caroline Kelly had 17 saves.
Buggy said, “It was a hard-fought game. Going forward, we have to take advantage of our scoring opportunities. Notre Dame has a strong team, we look forward to hosting them later this season.”
