Bats come alive for Garnet Valley in first win

All-Delcos Reva Alderman and Sam Tomasetti spearheaded an offensive explosion for Garnet Valley in a 17-6 rout of Ridley.

Alderman bashed a two-run homer and Tomasetti finished with two doubles and three RBIs. Lindsey Hunt, Diane Torregrossa and Hope DiMario each added two hits for the Jaguars (1-3).

Audrey Shenk earned the win by pitching three innings before leaving due to an injury. Allison Ferranti pitched the rest of the way.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Springfield 4, Radnor 0 >> All-Delco Tori DePietro twirled a three-hit shutout with four Ks.  Hannah Sweeney went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and Ashley Scarpato chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Cougars (4-0, 4-0).

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 16, Archbishop Carroll 6 >> Have yourself a day, Emily Loomis.

The O’Hara second baseman was 4 for 5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Annemarie Banes went 3 for 5 with a double, three runs and two ribbies for the Lions (3-0). Mary Pat Brough, who pitched the win, contributed three hits, including a double, and two runs. Alexia Galli (double) and Breanna Hickey added two base knocks apiece.

Claire Boylan and Julia Weimer each roped three hits for Carroll.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Kennett 3, Sun Valley 2 >> Claudia Davis delivered the game-tying, two-run double in the sixth inning for the Vanguards (1-5), but Samantha Weaver hit the walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to give Kennett the win. Maddy Gutowiecz pitched well in defeat, lasting 7 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts and only one walk.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 14, Agnes Irwin 2 >> Michala Maciolek smacked a double for the Owls (1-1).  SCHA pitcher Maddie Saltzman struck out eight and hit a pair of two-baggers in the win.
