Isabel Glace Taking Lacrosse Game To Wagner

FAIRLESS HILLS – After taking a look at Robert Morris, Quinnipiac, Marist and Ithaca, senior lacrosse defender Isabel Glace has decided on Wagner College, a private co-ed national liberal arts college located in Staten Island. With a population of just 2,500 students, it is the seventh smallest college in the U.S. that competes in NCAA Division I athletics.

Ultimately, the proximity to Bucks County is what mattered most to Glace.

“I like the location. It’s pretty close to my home,” said Glace in a signing ceremony held Nov. 17 at Pennsbury’s West Campus. “It’s only an hour away so my parents will still be able to see my games.

“The team was really great when I went up to visit. It’s a great atmosphere.”

During her time with the Lady Falcons, Pennsbury has made it to districts twice including last spring when the team went 4-5 in the Suburban One League (SOL) National Conference before getting eliminated in a postseason opener by top seed Conestoga, the eventual fourth-place finisher in District 1 Class AAAA.

“It was a rough game but it was fine,” said Glace. “I was happy we made it to the playoffs.”

The Falcons also made districts in 2013, Glace’s freshman season, and even pulled off a first round win that year over Owen J. Roberts.

Glace also gives credit for her development to the Pennsbury coaches. Current coach Christie Shore-Cooper has guided the Falcons the past two years while former skipper Kelly White led the team in 2013.

“I had Kelly White my freshman year and she was a very defensive minded coach,” explained Glace. “She helped me a lot with everything on defense.

“Christie was my coach in club at Tri-State so she’s prepared me since the beginning, when I first started to play club in seventh grade.

“Pennsbury did a real good job of preparing me for college.”

This is what’s in store for Glace at Wagner. Last season, the Seahawks went 9-10 overall, 5-2 in the Northeast Conference (NEC). In the postseason, Wagner got past Mount St. Mary’s 15-6 in an NEC Tournament semifinal but lost 15-10 to Bryant in the conference championship battle.
