Reporter Girls Basketball Roundup: Upper Dublin wins 6th straight; PW bounces back

Upper Dublin 44, Upper Moreland 29 >> Anajae Smith posted a team-high 11 points while Upper Dublin held Upper Moreland to just a point in the third quarter as the Cardinals avenged a loss to the Golden Bears earlier in the month for their sixth straight victory Tuesday.

Jackie Vargas scored all 10 of her points in the first half for Upper Dublin (13-6, 9-2 SOL American), which led 26-17 at halftime then pulled away by outscoring Upper Moreland 10-1 in the third.

Bean Hughes collected nine of her game-high 18 points in the fourth for the Golden Bears (10-8, 6-5 SOL American), who had their three-game win streak snapped.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 65, Abington 43 >> Erin Daley and Gabby Cooper both scored career-highs, Daley posting 21 points while Cooper had 16 points, as Plymouth Whitemarsh bounced back from its first loss of the season by beating Abington for an SOL American victory.

Kaitlyn Flanagan collected nine points for the Colonials (18-1, 11-0 conference) while Anna McTamney chipped in eight points. Abington (8-10, 6-5) has dropped its last three.

Germantown Academy 35, Notre Dame 30 >> Jaye Haynes finished with 13 points and six rebounds as Germantown Academy stayed perfect in Inter-Ac play with a tight road win over Notre Dame.

Maddie Vizza added nine points for the Patriots (18-4, 7-0 league), who led 29-27 after three quarters then edged the Irish 6-3 in the fourth. 

Allie Lynch led Notre Dame (14-6, 4-3) with 12 points while Maeve McErlane scored 10 points.

Hatboro-Horsham 81 Springfield 42 >> Emily Thomas and Alice Hall both collected 13 points — Thomas connecting on four 3-pointers — as Hatboro-Horsham scored in a season high in claiming an SOL American win.

Jess Howard had 12 points for the Hatters (10-9, 6-5 conference) while Cam Ryan and Caroline Shegogue each registered eight points.

Maddie Yoder’s 11 points led Springfield (2-16, 0-11) while Rileigh Serroni tallied nine points.

Souderton 54, Central Bucks East 43 >> Mikaela Reese collected a team-high 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists as Souderton held off Central Bucks East in the second half to claim its third win in a row.

Casey Harter recorded 11 points while Olivia Schneider added eights points for the Indians (13-6, 5-5 SOL Continental), who led 28-16 at halftime. The Patriots pulled within nine at the end of the third but Souderton outscored East 15-13 in the fourth to earn a split of the teams’ regular-season series.

Emily Chmiel scored a game-high 24 points for the Patriots (12-6, 6-4 SOL Continental). Aubrey DeAngelis finished with 10 points.

Central Bucks South 54, Pennridge 53 >> Evelyn Loughery paced Pennridge with 15 points while Julia Kreider had 14 points as the Rams were edged by Central Bucks South in the SOL Continental matchup.

The Titans (7-11, 3-7 conference), who won their second straight, led 31-25 at halftime. The loss drops Pennridge to 10-7 (4-5).

North Penn 43, Quakertown 24 >> Val McGriff scored nine of her game-high 11 points in the first half as North Penn rolled to a SOL Continental win.

The Knights (12-5, 6-3 conference), who led 20-6 at halftime, had 11 players record at least one point. Katie Catalano had eight points to lead Quakertown (4-14, 0-9).

Central Bucks West 71, West Chester Rustin 49 >> Paige Gilbert posted 17 points and 13 rebounds as Central Bucks West used a big second quarter to earn a ninth straight win in its nonleague contest.

Maddie Burke added 15 points while Emily Spratt and Olivia Irons had 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Bucks (15-3, 9-0 SOL Continental. West outscored the West Chester Rustin 25-8 in the second quarter to go into halftime up 39-20.

Pennsbury 54, William Tennent 23 >> Mary Miller scored 10 points as Pennsbury cruised to its fourth straight win.

Ava Sciolla posted nine points, six rebounds and four assists for the Falcons (14-3, 8-1 SOL National), who led 23-9 at halftime. Pennsbury pushed the margin to 36-18 after three quarters. 

Kirsten Scott had five points to lead William Tennent (6-11, 2-7 SOL National).
