Younger Gleplay helps Penn Wood provide an answer

Penn Wood had something happen that no one wanted to see Friday night, as star running back Answered Gleplay went down with an injury on the second series of the Patriots’ game against Council Rock North.

Little did anyone expect a younger Gleplay to step right in and answer the call.

Sophomore backup Elijah Gleplay stepped in and got the Patriots’ offense moving en route to a 28-7 win over Council Rock North. It was Penn Wood’s first win of the season.

“We don’t know how bad it is yet,” Penn Wood coach Ato Troop said of the apparent knee injury for the older Gleplay. “But his little brother stepped right in and did a good job.”

The Patriots thrived on the scoreboard via touchdown catches by Kennedy Poles of 40 yards and Raheim Bowens of 30 yards. Defensively, the Patriots got four turnovers, including interceptions by Poles and Lamine Diallo.
