Six Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media area players earn PFW All-State honors

The Pennsylvania Football Writers Class 4A, 5A and 6A All-State teams were released Friday and a number of players from The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Area were recognized for their strong seasons.

Upper Dublin seniors Colin O’Sullivan and Kyree Butler earned spots on the Class-5A team after leading the Cardinals to Suburban One League Continental Conference and District 1-5A championships and the PIAA-5A state semifinals.

O’Sullivan, a 5-foot-11 180-pound quarterback, had a dominant season throwing the ball. He completed 194-of-304 passes for 2,839 yards and 35 touchdowns to just five interceptions.

Butler, a 6-foot 315-pound defensive tackle, finished the season with 87 total tackles, 30 solo tackles and three sacks. He also had a blocked punt to swing momentum in the District 1-5A championship game.

Archbishop Wood tight end Markus Dixon also earned a spot on the Class-5A team. The 6-foot-5 230-pound senior was a threat both as a blocker and pass-catcher. The Clemson commit constantly drew double teams from opposing defenses.

In Class-6A, Central Bucks East’s Ethan Shine and Jack Donnelly were recognized for strong seasons. The two helped lead the Patriots to an 8-3 record and a District 1-6A playoff berth.

Shine, a 5-foot-11 215-pound senior running back, ran for 1,911 yards and 25 touchdowns, averaging 7.41 yards per carry. He added two receiving touchdowns while also dominating on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker.

Donnelly, a 6-foot-2 220-pound junior tight end, caught 36 passes for 571 yards and four touchdowns. He was the leading receiver at tight end in Class-6A in the state and third in all classifications.

Cheltenham senior Kion Wright earned a spot on the defensive line. The 6-foot-3 235-pound defensive end averaged nine tackles per game. He totaled 12 sacks on the season and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
