Reporter/Times Herald Area Week Four Previews

Defending Champion North Penn begins its Suburban One League Continental Conference schedule Friday night, as rival Pennridge makes a visit to Crawford Stadium for a Week Four clash.

Kickoff time is at 7 p.m.

The Knights come into the contest 2-1 overall, having earned a rainy, 13-3 victory over Pennsbury last week. The Rams are looking to get back on track, coming off a 24-6 loss to Perkiomen Valley.

In what was his first career start last week, freshman quarterback Ryan Zeltt helped the Knights score 13 straight points to overcome the Falcons in Week Three.

In a low-scoring contest, it was Zeltt’s four-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter that gave North Penn a two-possession lead to ice the game.

In addition, North Penn made two key defensive stops inside their own five-yard line. On one occasion, they held Pennsbury to a field goal for its only points of the night and then the second time, they forced and recovered a fumble to keep it a 3-0 game.

Khalani Eaton, who had 73 yards rushing on 16 carries, scored the other North Penn touchdown. Evan Spann added 41 yards on the ground and R.J. Macnamara had 34.

Pennridge’s offense got off to a fast start last week when quarterback Bobby Croyle hit Brayden Landherr for 45 yards on the first play from scrimmage, putting the Rams on the Perk Valley 42. But the Rams would ultimately have to punt.

Seven of Pennridge’s first nine possessions last week ended with punts. One of them resulted in a takeaway for the Rams, setting up Croyle’s one-yard touchdown for their only points of the night.

Pennridge’s offense looks to find more traction this week on the road at North Penn.
