Berks at a glance: Week 8

Governor Mifflin 49, Muhlenberg 20: (see game story)

Exeter 34, Reading 0: At Albright College, Gabe Schappell continued his outstanding play at quarterback, rushing for three touchdowns and 106 yards at the Eagles (8-0, 4-0 Section 1) shut out the Red Knights (4-4, 1-3). Nick Sarangoulis added 163 yards on the ground. Reading’s Jai Whitlock was held to 63 on 14 totes.

Conrad Weiser 47, Gettysburg 0: The host Scouts (6-2, 3-1) stayed a game behind co-leaders Exeter and Mifflin with a romp over the Warriors. Koran Jordan scored three touchdowns and ran for 213 yards on just 12 carries, as Weiser raced to a 35-0 halftime lead.

Pottsville 33, Daniel Boone 22: The Crimson Tide (1-7, 1-4) snapped an epic losing streak just three weeks before exiting play for good in the Berks League by beating the Blazers (3-5, 0-5) in Birdsboro. Darion Jacoby rushed for 153 yards on 20 totes for the victors. Cinque Ramsey had two scores for Boone.

Berks Catholic 48, Fleetwood 27: Isaac Lutz rushed for 143 yards on 10 carries for the host Saints (8-0, 4-0 Section 2), who stormed to a 48-6 lead by the break over the Tigers (2-6, 0-4). Cooper Lutz added a touchdown. Quarterback Luke Emge (233 passing, 124 rushing) accounted for 357 of Fleetwood’s 399 yards of offense.

Donegal 35, Schuylkill Valley 7: The visitors from Mount Joy rolled up 353 rushing yards to take care of the Panthers (2-6) in a non-league contest.

Twin Valley 36, Kutztown 0: The Raiders (2-6, 2-3) got 102 yards rushing from DJ Warren to keep the Cougars (0-8, 0-4) winless in a Section 2 battle at Elverson. TV moved out to a 29-0 halftime lead by getting touchdowns from four different players.
