Berks at a glance: Week 6

Reading 61, Daniel Boone 7: (see game story)

Exeter 35, Conrad Weiser 20: Filling in for injured quarterback Brandon Unterkoefler, Gabe Schappell rushed for 214 and scored four touchdowns in his first varsity start under center to lead the Eagles (6-0, 2-0 Section 1) past the Scouts (4-2, 2-1) at Robesonia. Future Penn Stater Michael Menet, an offensive lineman, caught a TD pass from Schappell after lining up at tight end. Pierce Brosnius had two touchdowns for the Scouts. Exeter’s defense held Weiser to 115 total yards.

Governor Mifflin 28, Pottsville 0: Lucas Garner rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs (3-3, 2-0) past the Crimson Tide (0-3, 0-6) at Shillington. Mifflin  scored one touchdown in all four quarters while holding Pottsville to 80 total yards of offense.

Muhlenberg 46, Fleetwood 39: Najee Smith rushed for 226 yards and four scores as the Muhls (3-3) held off the Tigers (2-4) in Laureldale in a Berks crossover game. A late Fleetwood rally fell short. Tigers’ QB Luke Emge rushed for three scores and threw for a fourth.

Hamburg 27, Twin Valley 21 (OT): Ignacio Reynoso rushed for 153 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Hawks (4-2, 3-0) stayed unbeaten in Berks Section 2 with an overtime verdict over the Raiders (0-6, 0-3). Reynoso scored on a five-yard run in overtime to clinch the win. DJ Warren had 215 rushing yards on 20 carries and found the end zone twice for Twin Valley.

Schuylkill Valley (2-3, 2-0 Section 2) at Berks Catholic (5-0, 1-0), 1 pm

Kutztown (0-5, 0-2 Section 2) at Wyomissing (5-0, 1-0), 2 pm
