Mercury-Area Field Hockey Roundup: Upper Perkiomen continues unbeaten start
Upper Perkiomen 5, Pottstown 0 >> Hope Flack scored twice as the Tribe continued their unbeaten start to the year (5-0, 6-0).
Kathryn Lehman (assist), Michaela Swenk and Abriana Gatto also scored. Liz Fox and Gabby Martin had assists. Pottstown goalie Naisha Elliot-Moore had 13 saves.
Upper Merion 3, Phoenixville 3, OT >> The Vikings and Phantoms finished all even in a PAC Frontier Division contest.
Katie Baker scored twice for the Phantoms after Sydney Alling’s opener. For Upper Merion, Rella Staley was a two-goal star and Rosalee Banks added its third.
Boyertown 8, Norristown 1 >> Sydney Fox netted a hat trick to lift the Bears over the Eagles in PAC play.
Tiff Diachynsky chipped in three assists while Ashley Dierolf scored twice. Boyertown held a 5-0 advantage at the half with Jen O’Connor adding a goal and an assist.
Methacton 1, Perkiomen Valley 0 >> Olivia Hoover scored with 6:39 left in OT to lift the Warriors over the Vikings in their PAC pairing.
Jackie Cerchio assisted Hoover on her tally, which proved to be enough with Addie Frey making 10 saves in goal. Miranda Wesley had seven stops for PV, which held an 11-9 edge in corners.
Pope John Paul II 9, Pottsgrove 0 >> Jackie Lerro registered four goals and two assists to lift the Golden Panthers past the Falcons in PAC action.
Kendra Sykes had a hat trick and an assist while Gabby Simms and Isabel Ameer each had a goal. Katie McGuigan made five saves in the shutout.
