Walker, Upper Darby knock off Garnet Valley for fourth straight

Garnet Valley had a win for the ages Tuesday against Lower Merion.

Friday against Upper Darby was a different story.

Noah Walker scored 24 points, and Mamadou Toure added 14 as the Royals pulled a 68-67 upset of the host Jaguars Friday night in the Central League.

Magd Adelwehab added 12 points for the Royals (5-11, 4-8), who have won four straight games.

Austin Laughlin, Tuesday’s hero, brought his “A” game again with 33 points, including five 3-pointers. He canned a triple with four seconds left to get Garnet Valley within one, but couldn’t replicate the game-tying/game-winning double of Tuesday’s win against the Aces.

Brandon Starr added 15 points for GV (12-6, 7-5).

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Springfield 58, Strath Haven 42 >> Ja’Den McKenzie poured in 19 points, and Kyle Sullivan canned four 3-pointers as part of his 17 points as the Cougars (11-7, 7-5) made a statement away from home against a league and District 1 Class 5A rival.

John Harrar led Strath Haven (11-6, 8-4) with eight points.

Harriton 69, Penncrest 63 >> Make it three straight losses for Penncrest (13-5, 9-3) despite 33 points from Tyler Norwood.

Justin Ross added 12 points and Mike Mallon 10 for the Lions.

Marple Newtown 45, Radnor 32 >> Matt Peel posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers (6-11, 3-9) got some valuable post scoring.

Mike May added 11 points and Mark Dever 10.

Ridley 49, Haverford 42 >> Liam Thompson scored 13 points and Malik Young added 12 as the Green Raiders (10-8, 7-5) surged in the second quarter and hung on.

J.T. Smyth led Haverford with 13 points. Danny Roe added 11 and Trey Blair 10.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 53, Calvary Christian 32 >> Jacob Bronkema poured in 14 points, while Jordan Parks added 11 for the Knights (10-7, 8-5).

In the Catholic League:

Roman Catholic 66, Archbishop Carroll 63 >> Khari Williams scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds, but a layup by JP Sanders with 14 seconds left put the host Cahillites up for good.

Jesse McPherson added 11 points, and A.J. Hoggard paired nine points with seven assists for Carroll (12-5, 4-4).

Father Judge 56, Bonner & Prendergast 46 >> Christian Lane and Tymir Cooper scored 12 points apiece, and Dylan Higgins added 10 points and 15 boards, but the Friars (12-4, 4-3) slumped to a fourth loss in six outings in part due to the absence of center Ajiri Johnson due to illness.
