Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: Archbishop Wood hands Cardinal O’Hara 1st loss

Archbishop Wood 67, Cardinal O’Hara 63 >> Daeshon Shepherd and Jaylen Stinson each finished with 16 points as Archbishop Wood held off Cardinal O’Hara to hand the host Lions their first loss of the season in Wednesday’s Philadelphia Catholic League contest.

Rahsool Diggins added 14 points while Marcus Randolph had 10 points for the Vikings (8-3, 4-0 league), who won its sixth straight. Wood led 31-29 at halftime then extended its advantage to 49-42 at the end of the third quarter.

Adrian Irving, Jr. and Anthony Purnell both scored 19 points for O’Hara (10-1, 4-1), Purnell hitting four 3-pointers while Irving, Jr. making three from beyond the arc. Tre Dinkins had 13 points for the Lions.

Norristown 50, Boyertown 44 >> Willie Anderson scored 10 of his game-high 14 points in the first half as Norristown snapped a three-game skid with a win in the PAC Liberty Division matchup.

Nizer Kinney collected 13 points, 10 in the second half, for the Eagles (6-4, 3-2). Boyertown’s Tre Diguglielmo had 13 points as the Bears (10-3, 3-2) had their nine-game win streak stopped.

Central Bucks East 69,  New Hope-Solebury 57 >> Joe Jackman erupted for 34 points and Central Bucks East used a big second quarter to win its fourth straight.

Chris Charlton scored 13 points for East (9-5, 3-2 SOL Continental), which trailed 15-7 before outscoring New Hope-Solebury 22-3 in the second quarter to go up 29-18 at halftime. The Patriots pushed the margin to 51-33 by the end of the third.

Alex Walinski scored a team-high 21 points while Mike Borys had 14 points for the Lions (6-6, 4-2 BAL Independence), who have lost two straight.

Pope John Paul II 60, Upper Merion 47 >> Pope John Paul II’s Drew McKeon knocked down five 3-pointers and scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as the Golden Panthers picked up a PAC Frontier Division victory.

Kevin Green and Justin Green did all of their scoring after halftime — Kevin recording 11 points, Justin added 10 points — as PJP II (9-3, 5-0 division) earned a fourth win in a row. The Golden Panthers built a 39-26 after outscoring Upper Merion 19-8 in the third quarter.

Dominic Breece collected seven of his team-high 11 points in the fourth for the Vikings (4-7, 2-3).
