Radnor’s Lew Robinson is Main Line Boys Athlete of the Week
The senior guard scored his 1,000th career point for Radnor High School Feb. 22. As a junior, he averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game, receiving first team All-Main Line boys’ basketball honors. His uncle, Reggie Robinson, scored 1,000 points for Radnor in the early 1970s, then went on to play for Rollie Massimino’s Villanova squad. Radnor boys’ basketball head coach Jamie Chadwin said, “Lew Robinson is the definition of a gamer. He plays hard end to end. For four years [as a starter] he has gotten each team’s best shot night and night out. And he is a coach’s dream.”
Q: Your dad, Bobby Robinson, scored 1,000 points in his high school career at Ridley/Glen Mills. Tell us a little about the influence of your dad and your uncle Reggie on your basketball career – what was the most important thing you learned from each of them?
A: I heard and read a lot of articles about my uncle Reggie’s basketball career and seen his accolades at the Radnor Hall of Fame and at Villanova. Throughout my life he always encouraged me and gave good advice. My dad has been the one to push me to be better than he was. Since I was 5 years old, he skilled, drilled and coached me to prepare me throughout my younger years. I am very thankful for the both of them and honored to make history by joining the both of them on the 1,000 point list. They both taught me to be calm, humble and patient.
Q: What aspect of your game do you feel you improved the most in the off-season?
A: I feel that I improved on my shooting , basketball IQ and becoming a better facilitator

A: When I finally made it!
Q: Tell us a little about the biggest challenges you faced in your off-season basketball training because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A: In the beginning it was very stressful. My last AAU season was cancelled, I wasn’t able to get into any gyms to work out, and I had to work out outside, Trainers had to cancel workouts at times, due to contact with other players coming down with or feeling symptoms of COVID.
Q: Who is your favorite basketball player, and why?
A: Paul George – I like his ability to play multiple positions as well as both ends of the floor.
Q: You wear uniform jersey No. 5 for Radnor – was there a reason why you chose this number?
A: No. 5 was my dad’s number, so I felt I would carry on the tradition.
Q: Tell us a little about your pre-game preparation on the day of a game.
A: I eat a pre-game meal a few hours before the game, take a power nap, hydrate myself and listen to music to get me focused.
I also eat Airhead bites candy right before game.
