Recap

Hill School 60, Knox Prep 56 >>  Hill won a hard fought battle with a very talented Knox Prep team in the Mercer Invitational semifinas, pulling out the victory in in thrilling fashion.

Down by as many as 10 in the opening quarter, Hill (7-3) pulled to within 28-22 on Chase Audige’s layup at the end of the first half.  Out of the half, the Blues came back and took the lead, despite struggling some at the foul line.

Hill led 54-49 halfway through the fourth, but struggled to put it away and Knox made some plays to take the lead, 56-54.  But Hill would not quit, and Donnell Hill (nine points, five rebounds, four assists) got one of his four steals when it mattered most and laid it in to take the lead.

From there, Hill pressed again, and DaQuan Morris (12 point, stwo steals) came up with a pick and scored to put Hill up 58-56 with 28 seconds left.  Hill locked in and got the stop on defense, and Colton Lawrence  (seven points) got the rebound and threw it long to Audige, who punctuated the win with a thunderous slam.

Audige would notch a game-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists.  Ethan Norton chipped in six rebounds and four assists despite being saddled with fouls much of the 2nd half.  Solomon Ruddell had two key buckets in Hill’s third quarter run, converting a turnaround and one-and-one play for five points.
