Delco Baseball ROUNDUP: Liberio’s gem leads Ridley past Haverford

Jack Liberio was dealing plenty of filth Monday afternoon.

The Ridley senior threw six innings of one-hit ball with 15 strikeouts to highlight a 3-0 victory over Haverford.

Liberio helped his cause with a single and an RBI. TJ McNeeley, Ryan Schreiber and Ethan Pecko collected two base knocks each for the Green Raiders. Matt Rowles collected the save and capped the shutout.

Mateo Gonzalez smacked a triple for Haverford’s only hit.

In other Central League action:

Ridley’s Ethan Pecko knocks in the first run as the visiting Green Raiders shut out Haverford High School 3-0 in Central League action.

Marple Newtown 10, Strath Haven 0 >> In a five-inning affair, Andrew Cantwell blanked the Panthers on one hit with eight strikeouts. MN’s middle of the order — Kevin Merrone, Tyler Bogan and Sal Tartaglia — produced two RBIs apiece.

Jack Mulgrew supplied a two-run single, and Alden Mathes and Erik Molinaro each doubled for the Tigers (3-2, 1-2).

In suffering the loss, Haven starter Noah Atsaves struck out five and issued four walks in 4.2 innings of work. Simon Bolinger hopped off the bench to get the Panthers’ lone hit off Cantwell.

Penncrest 3, Radnor 1 >> Kellen Davis fanned five and gave up one run on three hits over five solid frames to pick up the win. Aidan Conmy slammed the door with two spotless innings of relief.

Matt Arbogast doubled, and Jeff Lunger, Jack Pendleton and Danny McLoughlin all knocked in a run for the Lions.

George Hoysgaard singled and doubled for the Raiders.

Garnet Valley 8, Lower Merion 3 >> Dom Picone struck out 13 in five shutout innings. The Jags ace allowed just three hits.

Offensively, Reece Malek set the tone at the top of the order, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Cole Palis slammed a double and drove in two runs for the Jags.

Harriton 14, Springfield 2 >> About the only bright spot for the Cougars was Jake Baumann’s three strikeouts in two innings of hitless relief. Reed Curtis led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jack Kochanowski, Rowan Teran, Eddie May and Christian Quinn (three RBIs) pounded out two hits apiece for the Rams. Mike Becker and Pierce Hagg (two RBIs) each tripled for the winners.

Kochanowski dominated from the slab, striking out nine Cougars in four innings for the win.

Conestoga 17, Upper Darby 3 >> Miles Mosley-Jones and Justin Rimel each had an RBI hit, but the Royals had trouble fielding the ball, as six errors enabled the Pioneers to put a crooked number on the scoreboard in six of the seven innings.

Blaise Rantanien singled, doubled, and knocked home three runs for ‘Stoga. Cam Marcus contributed two hits, two runs scored and two ribbies. Aiden Lexow struck out five in four innings to get the win.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 14, Devon Prep 2 >> Bryan Pazulski had a perfect game brewing into the fifth inning. In going the distance, Pazulski registered five punchouts while allowing only two hits and a walk.

Dan Hopkins banged out a double and a triple to go with four RBIs. Joe Kelly smoked a pair of two-baggers while driving in four runs, and Jim White added two bingles for the Lions (3-1).

Bonner & Prendergast 8, St. Joseph’s Prep 2 >> The Friars tallied six times in the bottom of the sixth. John DeMucci led off with an infield single, then blew the game open with a two-run knock.

Erik Lachette tossed five shutout innings in relief of starter Michael Standen, who struck out five and allowed one earned run over the first four.

Matt Headley, who doubled, fired a one-hopper to home plate to nab a runner trying to score from third on a flyball to center.

In the Ches-Mont:

Avon Grove 1, Sun Valley 0 >> Joey Greco was the tough-luck losing pitcher for the Vanguards. Greco hurled five solid innings, scattering four hits and two walks while striking out one. Vinny DeAngelo went 3-for-3, and Dom Valente had a pair of hits, including a double, but the Vanguards spoiled a strong pitching outing by their starter.

Shane Kelleher’s RBI triple in the fourth inning made the difference for Avon Grove.
