Mercury Area Softball Roundup: Methacton into first place after 12-11 victory over Spring-Ford; PJP tops OJR

METHACTON 12, SPRING-FORD 11 >> Methacton exploded for nine runs in the first two innings before scoring another three in the fifth to pull away with the PAC-10 victory.
Sam Weil-Kaspar produced a team-high four RBI in the win as the Warriors built a 9-2 lead before Spring-Ford struck for six in the third and three in the fourth to take an 11-9 lead.

Aubrey Seal finished with three hits and three runs scored in the win with Dani Duda adding three RBI. Annalese Olivieri and Megan Stauffer each had two RBI and one hit in the win.

Maddie Little finished with four RBI in the loss, going 2-for-4 from the plate. Megan Kern had three RBI to go with her double.

POTTSGROVE 6, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 >> The Falcons capitalized in the late innings and used a three-run seventh inning to seal the victory over the Indians. Shauna Maggio was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kira Livezey had two RBI. Pitcher Gabi Ermish, who had a double, tossed a complete game and allowed seven hits, one run and struck out five.

Counterpart Taylor Lindsay was solid in the circle, going the distance while giving up five hits and two earned runs but was done in partially by UP’s defense committing seven errors.

Offensively for UP, Karlee Fretz and Alyssa Sullivan (RBI) each had two hits.

POPE JOHN PAUL II 4, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2 >> After four lead changes, the Golden Panthers were able to pull away from OJR for their second PAC-10 win.

PJP went up for good on a two-run single by Gabby Simms, scoring Hope Robinson and Alyssa Schwab. Simms finished with two RBI on two hits.

Ashley Remington got the win in the circle, allowing two hits in her complete game effort and striking out two.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 4, PHOENIXVILLE 2 >> Emily Oltman was dominant in her complete-game effort, striking out 11 as the Vikings got back in the win column with a two-run victory over the Phantoms.

Ana Bruni led the Vikings offensively with two hits and two runs scored. Gillian Barrie had two hits and an RBI with Kelsey Impink adding an RBI, run scored and hit.

Jess Eldridge got the loss in the circle for the Phantoms, which got a two-hit, two-run performance from Jamie Deni.

DANIEL BOONE 8, GOVERNOR MIFFLIN 5 >> Heather Hall pitched all seven innings striking out 12 as the Blazers topped their Berks I foe. Jenna Piccaretta led the way going 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs scored. Brooke Piccaretta added two doubles and a 2-for-3 effort. Syd Hayes had two hits including a triple and Gina Galm was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 11, BARRACK HEBREW 1 >> The Panthers ran wild with 15 stolen bases en route to a five-inning Tri-County League win over the Cougars.

Abby Glavin finished 3-for-3 on the day, compiling a double, three runs scored and four stolen bases while Juliane Hausmann finished 2-for-3 with a run and a double to help her own effort. In the circle, Hausmann delivered all five innings, where she limited Barrack to five hits and one run on nine strikeouts.

WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY. 27, WOODLYNDE 12 >> Grace Flynn hit for the cycle, which including a grand slam, while Julia Miller pitched 3-1/3 hitless innings and went 5-for-5 at the plate as the Wings downed Woodlynde in Tri-County League play.

Flynn finished 5-for-5 with five runs scored and eight RBI, improving to 21-for-25 thus far on the season. Miller struck out six batters in the circle, as Katarina Sobelewski finished with five hits and four runs scored. Christy Chen, Emmy Jenkins and Angel Gordon each finished with three hits as WMCA posted 33 hits on the afternoon.
