Pottsgrove 2016 Softball Preview

Head Coach: Julie Davis, third season.

Last year’s record: 11-7 PAC-10, 12-10 overall. PAC-10 Final Four, Advanced to District 1-AAA playoffs.

Players to watch: Gabi Emrish, Sr., P (.500 BA; All-State Second Team, First Team All-Area); Jenna Trythall, Sr., P/IF (.275 BA); Cori Dickinson, Jr., 3B (.473 BA, Second Team All-Area); Shauna Maggio, Jr., OF (.328 BA, Second Team All-Area).

Outlook: They’re not taking anyone by surprise this season. The majority of the Falcons return after a highly impressive 2015 season which saw them win five of their last regular season games to clinch their first Final Four berth since the late 1990s. Ermish returns after a stellar junior season. The Bryant College commit will once again be the ace and stands as the league’s best pitcher alongside Emily Oltman from Perkiomen Valley. The offense only scored 99 runs all of last season so finding someone to step up beside Ermish, Trythall, Dickinson or Maggio is crucial. If that happens, look for Pottsgrove to take another step up in the PAC, and in the district. “We are returning the core to our starting lineup,” Davis said. “The girls are eager to get back to the PAC-10 Final Four and make districts this year. Strong pitching and fielding will go a long way for this veteran club that is looking to improve on their record from last year.”
