Bryan Caver has been hired as the new boys basketball coach at Conwell-Egan Catholic.

FAIRLESS HILLS – Former McCorristin High and Seton Hall University basketball standout Bryan C. Caver has been named as the next head boys basketball coach at Conwell-Egan Catholic High.

Caver has served on the boys coaching staff at Trenton High and runs the Hoop Skillz Elite AAU Boys 14-and-under & 17-and-under programs. He also spent time at Mercer County Community College and Emily Fisher Charter School.

“First allow me to thank President Janet Dillard, Principal Michael Culnan, Athletic Director Pat Donlen, Director of Advancement William Burns and the rest of the Conwell-Egan Catholic administration for affording me this opportunity,” Caver said. “I’m extremely excited about joining the Conwell-Egan Catholic family and continuing to aid in shaping the complete student-athlete here at CEC.

When the high school hoops season begins in November, Caver will be guiding a team that competes in one of the toughest leagues in the nation for boys basketball.

“I’m very excited about competing in the Philadelphia Catholic League, which is arguably one of, if not the, top high school leagues in the country! Again, I’m truly humbled by this opportunity and looking forward to getting started.”

During his playing days, the new Eagles head coach led the Iron Mikes to back-to-back NJSIAA Parochial A state championships. He was a first-team All-State pick, as well as Player of the Year in Mercer County and a McDonald’s All-American.

Caver went on to play four seasons at Seton Hall, where the Pirates won two Big East Championships. He won a bronze medal in the 1990 Olympic Sports Festival and represented the USA in the 1991 Men’s Junior National Championships, helping the team win a gold medal.

After graduating, Caver was invited to the Indiana Pacers Rookie camp before eventually being drafted fifth overall in the 1994-95 C.B.A. draft. He played two seasons with the Fort Wayne Fury and the Grand Rapids Mackers, and one season overseas with the Sydney Kings in Australia.
