Phillips’ bat, Virbitsky’s arm leads Episcopal over Malvern

Will Phillips drove in two runs with three hits, and Kyle Virbitsky tossed five strong innings as Episcopal Academy claimed the battle of Inter-Ac front-runners with a 6-5 win over Malvern Prep Wednesday.

AJ Lotsis and Jack O’Reilly scored twice each, Dylan Everly added two hits and Isaiah Payton navigated out of trouble to get the final six outs for EA (10-7, 4-1).

Also in the Inter-Ac:

Haverford School 3, Springside Chestnut Hill 2 >> The Fords needed just two batters to finish off a game suspended Tuesday, with Isaiah Winikur doubling home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Ryan Tino and Logan Keller collected two hits each, and Cameron Miller tossed seven strong innings, allowing three hits for the Fords (16-5, 3-2).

In the Central League:

Springfield 1, Conestoga 0 >> Jared Morris did it all, outdueling Stoga’s Tim Miller over seven shutout innings (five hits, nine strikeouts) plus chipping in at the dish with two hits and an RBI.

Nick Gorman doubled in the fourth inning, brought home by a Morris single for the only run Springfield (9-3, 7-3) needed.

Haverford 15, Radnor 3 >> Nick Cerelli tripled, Dylan Resnick doubled and both scored four runs as the Fords dominated. Denis Spaventa added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to support winning pitcher Cole Humes.

Matt Schaefer drove in two runs for Radnor.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Rustin 4, Sun Valley 1 >> Christian Bateman doubled and tossed 6 1/3 strong innings with eight strikeouts, but Sun Valley (4-8, 4-3) couldn’t eke out enough runs.

In the Bicentennial League:

Christopher Dock 12, Delco Christian 0 >> Daniel Nichols recorded the only hit for the Knights (8-4, 7-3) on the day.

In nonleague action:

Morrisville 11, Christian Academy 1 >> Brit Haseltine collected two hits and scored the run for TCA (1-7), but six errors doomed the Crusaders.
