Fresh off its run to the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship, the Owen J. Roberts softball team couldn’t keep its postseason magic in a bottle.

Central Bucks South uncorked the proceedings for its own party in the late innings, a three-run sixth inning rallying the No. 18 seed Titans to a 6-4 victory over No. 15 Owen J. Roberts in the opening round of the District 1-6A playoffs Monday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Maddy Borowski bounced back from a three-run first inning to limit OJR to a single run over the final six innings. She only surrendered one hit but walked seven, to go with five strikeouts.

Titans leadoff hitter Camryn Lee and right fielder Hannah Tracy had three hits apiece and Riley Theis’ RBI single in the sixth inning gave CB South (12-9) its first lead after trailing 4-0. That was preceded by Lee reaching on a fly ball error to score Tracy and Maura Fleming driving in Nora Sidorski on a groundout.

Lee’s fly ball to shallow center field was gloved by OJR’s Sophia Grillo but lost on the dive, bringing home Tracy for an insurance run in the seventh.

Owen J. Roberts concluded its season with a 14-9 record after last week rattling off back-to-back 11-0 victories in the PAC playoffs, over top-seed Boyertown and Frontier Division champion Upper Perkiomen in last Wednesday’s final.
The Wildcats had a promising start with a three-run first inning, Rachel Epps’ bases-loaded fly ball leading to three OJR runs. They added a fourth when Liza Flavin scored on a passed ball in the third.

OJR starting pitcher Natalie Alldred went 4 ⅔ innings, making way for freshman Amelia Atkins. Atkins got out of a bases-loaded jam to limit CB South to a run in the fifth but was tagged for the Titans’ runs in the sixth and took the loss.

Owen J. Roberts’ senior class featured Alldred, outfielder Grillo, catcher Liv Egan and outfielder Hayden Streeter.
