Ella Hurter hurled a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the Bears over the Colonials in a pitchers’ duel Friday on opening day. Alexis Laboy’s solo home run in the sixth inning was the lone run.

Molly Moore took the hard-luck loss for PW, only allowing two hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Upper Perk’s first five batters combined for 11 hits, including two-hit, four-RBI days for Darby Gasda and winning pitcher Madalyn Dyer in a five-inning, non-league win over the Bullets.

Ashley Forrest had a home run, three hits and three RBI and Kristina Molnar, Elizabeth Proctor had two hits apiece.

Dyer allowed four hits, zero earned runs and struck out nine.
