Upper Perkiomen survives in 11-inning thriller; Maziarz, Spring-Ford down Boyertown

Upper Perkiomen 6, Pope John Paul II 4 >> A back-and-forth game finally broke the Indians’ way as they took home a victory in an 11-inning thriller.

Down 2-0 after five, the Indians struck for a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh to tie it. They took a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the 10th before the Golden Panthers answered to send it to the deciding 11th inning where a two-run top half was enough to give Upper Perk the win.

Morgan Lindsay went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and two runs scored for Upper Perkiomen, which also received two-hit games from Alyssa Sullivan (two RBI), Karlee Fretz, Olivia Young and Sarah Heidler.

PJP received a 4-for-6 effort from Gabby Simms with three RBI and two runs scored while Ashley Remmington finished 3-for-5. Remmington was stellar in the circle, finishing with seven strikeouts in nine innings.

Spring-Ford 5, Boyertown 2 >> The Rams used four runs in the first two innings to pace themselves to a victory over the Bears in league play.

Morgan Maziarz led Spring-Ford with a 3-for-3 effort with two runs scored while Julia Heine knocked in two runs. Maddie Little and Sam Lindsay each had two hits for Spring-Ford.

Lindsay went the distance in the circle, striking out five while allowing seven hits and two earned.

Boyertown’s Sarah Reinert had two hits in the loss. Kylie Hertzler went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Perkiomen Valley 11, Norristown 1 >> Abby Wild struck out the side in both innings of work and provided two RBI while Jordan Sell and Alex Vullings each drove in two runs in the Vikings’ victory over the Eagles in Liberty Division play.

Wild’s start was equaled by the pitching effort of Kasey Souder and Jessie Oltman, who combined to allow two hits while striking out 11 in five innings of work. Souder allowed zero hits while striking out three in two innings of work while Oltman struck out eight in finishing out the game’s last three innings.

Sela Fusco, Wild and Sell each had two hits in the win, which also got two runs from Gillian Barrie.

Steph Orman had a hit and run scored for Norristown.

Owen J. Roberts 3, Methacton 2 >> The Wildcats benefitted from a misplay in the outfield to come out victorious in a Liberty Division matchup.

Casey Walker’s single to the outfield was misplayed by a Warrior outfielder, allowing Darby Stuart (1-for-3), Bridget Guinan (2-for-4) and herself to score to give the Wildcats the run cushion they needed in support of pitcher Brittney Dellaquila.

Phoenixville 2, Pottsgrove 0 >> Jess Eldridge went the distance, striking out four while allowing five hits in seven shutout innings as the Phantoms downed the Falcons in league play.

The Phantoms received two hits apiece from Susan and Maggie Duncan and Emily Buckwalter as the team scored one run in the third and one run in the fifth for the two-run victory.

Pottsgrove got five hits from five different players in the loss.

Daniel Boone 9, Fleetwood 2 >> Heather Hall got the win in the circle with freshman Caitlyn McCrone hurling the last inning as the Blazers’ pitching combined for nine strikeouts in a convincing win.

Liz Nitka, Syd Hayes, Jenna Picaretta and McCrone paced the Blazers with two hits apiece.
