Stuart’s homer, four RBI power Owen J. past North Penn in nine
It took extras, but Owen J. Roberts was able to come back and defeat North Penn in a non-league showing, 5-3, in nine innings.
Darby Stuart had a monster game, going 2-for-4 from the plate with four RBI and a home run. Camryn Glenn added two hits and two runs while Mia Flavin had a productive day at the dish finishing with three hits.
OJR’s Brittney Dellaquila got the win in the circle, throwing all nine innings while allowing seven hits and striking out two.
Upper Perkiomen 7, Pennridge 2 >> Taylor Lindsay threw a complete game, fanning 10 as the Indians used a four-run fifth inning to overcome their non-league opponent in nine innings.
Emily Moll and Sarah Heidler (home run) each added two hits in the win with Karlee Fretz and Lindsay adding two RBI.
Phoenixville 16, Harriton 1 >> The Phantoms pounded out 15 hits in a season-opening rout of Harriton.
Jess Eldridge pitched four innings, allowing one earned while striking out eight.
Ainsley McQuiston finished with a double along with Eldridge and also had a home run.
Spring-Ford wins two >> The Rams started the season with two wins while on a trip in Florida, defeating Elizabeth Forward, 12-2, and Franklin Regional, 13-4. Megan Kern, fresh off Mercury All-Area Player of the Year honors last season, had three home runs in the two games.
