PAC-10 SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Upper Perk 10-runs Pottsgrove; Boyertown inches closer to locking down playoff spot
Upper Perkiomen 11, Pottsgrove 1 >> Taylor Lindsay scattered just three hits across five innings and also finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Tribe blew past the Falcons in PAC-10 play.
Karlee Fretz was 4-for-4, finishing just a triple shy of the cycle while knocking in four runs and scoring three while Sarah Hiedler was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Kelsey Hochstuhl posted two hits, including a double and a solo home run for Pottsgrove.
Boyertown 10, Pottstown 0 >> Lauren Gabel went 2-for-3 with a single and a double and two runs scored as the Bears pounded out 11 hits in the mercy-rule victory.
Allison Melahn went 2-for-2 with two singles and two runs scored while Naiya Murrey went 2-for-3 with a single and a triple and two RBI’s.
Pope John Paul II 3, Owen J. Roberts 1 >> Ashley Remington continued her mastery of the Wildcats’ lineup, allowing two hits and one run in seven innings of work as the Golden Panthers put a dent in OJR’s playoff hopes.
Grace Harvey went 3-for-4 with an RBI as PJP scored a run in the fourth, fifth and seven innings to supplement Remington’s work in the circle. Gabby Simms finished with two hits while Alyssa Schwab and Amanda Butera each had doubles to highlight the Golden Panthers’ 11-hit effort.
OJR’s Alissa Vining and Bridget Guinan recorded hits for OJR, which finds itself needing wins against Phoenxixville (Thursday) and Spring-Ford (Friday) in order to have a chance of making the PAC-10 playoffs.
Spring-Ford 6, Methacton 1 >> The Rams crossed three runs in the third and fourth innings to overcome the Warriors in PAC-10 play.
Megan Kern finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored while Jess Della-Guardia finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Sam Lindsay pitched all seven innings, limiting Methacton to one run on three hits and two walks to go along with four strikeouts. Megan Stauffer went the distance in the loss, yielding six runs (five earned) on eight hits and four strikeouts. Aubrey Seal scored the Warriors’ lone run in the top of the first.
Perkiomen Valley 7, Phoenixville 0 >> Emily Oltman pitched a one-hit shutout as the Vikings continued their winning ways by defeating the host Phantoms.
Oltman struck out three and walked one. The only hit she surrendered was Emily Buckwalter’s single to right field with two outs in the fifth inning. For PV, Ana Bruni, Taylor Hamm and Ashley Bangert each had two hits. Kelsey Impink also doubled, and Hamm slammed a two-run triple to account for PV’s last two runs in the seventh inning.
Phoenixville committed four errors behind pitcher Jess Eldridge.
