Chichester rolls Interboro in first showdown of Del Val favorites
Alex Maher (two RBIs) and Nicole O’Donnell (two runs) both went 3 for 5 to help Chichester get the upper hand over Interboro in the Del Val League title race with an 8-3 win Thursday.
Mel Chubb was 4 for 4 and Amber Seamen was 3 for 4 for Interboro (2-2, 2-1).
The Eagles and Bucs will play two more times in the regular season. The Eagles are the reigning league champs.
Academy Park 15, Penn Wood 2 >> Hailey Wallace paced the Knights with three hits, including a triple, and four runs scored. Dana Goodyear (three runs) and Kayla Payne (three RBIs) added two hits apiece.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 13, Bishop McDevitt 0 >> Jessica Skarren and Maura Kane combined for a one-hit shutout over five innings for the Lions (4-1). Danielle Bradley (three RBIs), Annemarie Banes (two RBIs), Killeen McCans (two RBIs) and Skarren all had two hits.
Hallahan 1, Little Flower 0 >> Sharon Hill resident Maddy McBride dominated from the circle with 19 strikeouts in authoring a shutout.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 14, Germantown Academy 4 >> Nina Pagano belted a three-run homer and scored three times, while Ariana Pompei went 3 for 3 with three runs scored. Freshman Skylar Lingo tripled in her first varsity at-bat for the Churchwomen (1-2).
In the Catholic Academies League:
Merion Mercy 14, Sacred Heart 3 >> Ally Schell had a nice day with two singles, two walks, two stolen bases and a pair of runs scored for the Lions.
In nonleague action:
Christian Academy 14, Atlantic Christian 3 >> Julie Lee’s two-RBI single in the third sparked a nine-run rally by the Crusaders (3-1). Maddie Dutton and Carli Sitkowski each went 2 for 3 with a double.
