DePietro, Springfield hold O’Hara in check
All-Delco Tori DePietro was 3 for 4 with a run scored and pitched a complete game as Springfield stretched its unbeaten streak to six games with a 5-3 win over Cardinal O’Hara.
Jenna Casasanto and Hannah Sweeney (two runs) added two hits apiece for the Cougars (6-0). Ashley Scarpato roped an RBI single.
Jessica Skarren knocked in a pair of runs with a single and Emily Loomis was 2 for 4 with a run scored for O’Hara (3-1).
In other nonleague action:
West Chester East 3, Haverford 1 >> The Fords (3-4) threatened to tie the game in the seventh inning, but couldn’t cash in with runners in scoring position. Heather Lazer led off the frame with a single and scored on a Lauren Meyer RBI groundout to shortstop.
In the Central League:
Garnet Valley 14, Lower Merion 4 >> Reva Alderman had another big day at the dish. The All-Delco went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs. Sam Tomasetti (double), Riley Beebe and Diane Torregrossa all added two hits for the Jaguars.
In the Del Val League:
Chichester 15, Penn Wood 0 >> Hayley Coale belted a three-run homer and also tripled for the Eagles (4-0, 3-0), who scored 11 runs in the second inning.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Oxford 11, Sun Valley 3 >> Amber Michael drilled two doubles and drove in a pair of runs for the Vanguards (1-7, 1-7). Mackenzie Lewis and Maddie Gutowiecz both went 2 for 3.
