Palumbo’s clutch hit wins it for Notre Dame
Academy of Notre Dame softball player Cassie Palumbo had the biggest hit in a wild, high-scoring affair against Friends’ Central Thursday afternoon.
Palumbo came through with the go-ahead RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Irish claimed a season-opening, 11-9 victory. The teams combined for six lead changes.
Emily Sheehan was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game-winner, and Meg Milligan added two hits and two RBIs for Notre Dame.
Gab Fanucci pitched four solid innings, striking out six, to pick up the win in relief.
