Boyertown hires Wilson assistant Jami Sands as next head football coach
Jami Sands was approved as the next Boyertown head football coach on Tuesday night at the district’s school board meeting.
Sands comes to Boyertown after serving as defensive backs coach at Wilson for the past four seasons. Wilson was 30-12 during his four seasons serving under legendary coach Doug Dahms.
Sands previously served as DB coach at Manheim Township for eight seasons prior to returning to his alma mater.
Sands replaces Justin Konnick, who resigned on May 8 after two seasons leading the Bears. Boyertown went 8-13 over the past two years. Boyertown has not had a winning record since 2013 when it was 7-4.
Sands is a Wilson graduate (1996) and had a successful playing career that earned him induction into the Wilson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was star running back of the Bulldogs’ 1995 team that went undefeated in the regular season, won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 and finished 10-1 overall. He went on to play safety at Kutztown University
