Roundup (April 24): Billeta’s one-hitter carries Owen J. Roberts baseball past Upper Perk for eighth consecutive victory

Owen J. Roberts 3, Upper Perkiomen 0

Dom Billetta starred for the Wildcats by throwing six innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts to carry OJR past Upper Perk in a PAC cross-division matchup Wednesday.

OJR got on the board with a Zach Donaghy RBI single in the second, then tacked on two more in the fourth inning on a A Stahl triple and Donaghy sacrifice fly.

Jackson Waters had a double and was 2-for-3.

Lucas Campbell got the save with a one-hit seventh.

Boyertown 3, Phoenixville 1

Jonah Mayer threw a complete-game gem for the Bears, allowing zero earned runs on five hits while striking out 12 in Boyertown’s PAC crossover win over Phoenixville.

Tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, Boyertown plated two runs. Gavin Trainer (2-for-3) led off with a double and scored on an error before Easton Albert (fielder’s choice) got to third via sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch.

Christian Cervino was the hard-luck losing pitcher, allowing only four hits and zero earned runs in six innings of work. He struck out eight and walked one.

Giovanni Vito and Ryan Jacobson had two hits each for the Phantoms.

Pope John Paul II 10, Perkiomen Valley 4

The Golden Panthers got home runs from AJ Diaddezio and Aidan Sgarra in a seven-run first inning and PJP had a 15-hit output on the way to a PAC crossover victory over the Vikings.

Sgarra drove in three runs, Carson Glose had three doubles and an RBI, and Luke Terlesky was 3-for-4 (triple) with an RBI. Chase Frantz was 2-for-4 with a run driven in.

Aidan Autovino, Jack Tarloski (2 RBI) and Braden Tighe (2 RBI) had two hits apiece for eight-hit Perk Valley.

Sgarra (4 IP, 6H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2K) got the pitching win while Diaddezio threw two scoreless innings in relief.

Methacton 17, Pottsgrove 6

Cam Serafin highlighted the offense with a grand slam and Casey Behan added a two-run home run as Methacton scored six runs in the first and seventh innings of a lopsided PAC crossover win.

Chase Nolan earned the victory on the mound with James DeHaven throwing well in relief. Carmine Maro had four hits and three RBI, Liam Greenberg had three hits (RBI) and  Bryce Lohsen, Nick Remish and Dom Lamalfa had two hits each for the Warriors (10-3).

Gabe Rinda and Luke Tyson had two hits each for the Falcons.

Hill School 9, Hun School 8

Charlie Winston’s walk-off RBI single capped a wild seventh inning for Hill, which rallied to register seven runs on six hits in its final at bat.

Matthew Conforti added a bases-clearing double in the frame to make the score 8-6, followed by a Cole White RBI triple and a game-tying double from Derek Boyd-Volz to set the stage for Winston’s heroics.

Daniel Boone 14, Conrad Weiser 4

At Daniel Boone, the Blazers erupted for 12 runs in the fourth inning to erase a 4-1 deficit en route to a five-inning victory over the Scouts. For the Blazers, Chase Yenser was 2-for-2, drove in three runs, and walked twice.  Ryan Kriebel went 3-for-4 (two doubles) with four RBI. Hayden Lee was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Maddox Roy had a double and two RBI to lead the Blazer offense. Alex Hughes picked up the win for the Blazers throwing two innings of shutout relief.

Perkiomen School 14, Kiski Prep 1

Avery Smith drove in two first-inning runs in a 2-for-2, three-RBI day to send Perk School past Kiski and improve to 10-1.

Henry Clausell (2-for-2) and Sammy Laux had two-run doubles in Perk’s eight-run second inning.

Nate Romberger (1-for-1, RBI) got the pitching win after throwing two scoreless innings.

Softball

Methacton 4, Pottsgrove 0

Lindsay Gebhardt kept the Falcon bats quiet with a four-hit shutout to send Methacton past Pottsgrove in a PAC crossover Wednesday.

Sydney Hockenbrock had a double and RBI in a 2-for-3 day for the Warriors while Madelyn Polonsky had a hit and drove in a run. Methacton put up single runs in the first and second and two in the third.

Mikayla Eckman did her part in the circle for Pottsgrove, allowing just one earned run on six hits over six innings.

Elizabeth Phillips had two of Pottsgrove’s four hits.

Owen J. Roberts 6, Upper Perkiomen 5

Amelia Atkins’ RBI single in the bottom of the seventh provided the game-winner for Owen J. Roberts in a turbulent PAC crossover win over Upper Perk Wednesday.

OJR led 4-0 through five innings but the Tribe put up two in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to snare a 5-4 lead.

The Wildcats weren’t to be denied in the seventh as Liza Flavin (2-for-4) opened with a single, advanced on a sac bunt, and scored on Rachel Epps’ RBI single. Epps (2 RBI) scored on Atkins’ walk-off.

Upper Perk fell despite 13 hits from its lineup. Elizabeth Proctor (2 RBI), Morgan Robinson (RBI) and Ryan Berg had three hits each and B Sullivan was 2-for-4. Ashley Forrest drove in two runs.

Grace Przyborowski allowed two runs in 5 ⅔ innings for OJR. Avery Fallon got the win.

Boyertown 14, Phoenixville 2

Lauren Homa and Lindsay Mathias both homered and a robust 12-hit Bears offense rolled Phoenixville in a five-inning PAC crossover Wednesday.

Jenna Fox (2 RBI) and Riley Carey (2 RBI) had three hits apiece while Mathias had a double along with her homer and drove in four. Hailey Schildt had a triple and RBI for 10-2 Boyertown.

Kyra Neiswender got the pitching win, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. She struck out seven.

Katie Clarke had a triple and RBI for the Phantoms.

Mercersburg Academy 12, Perkiomen School 9

An error-filled afternoon cost Perk School in a loss to Mercersburg. Camilla Hannigan-Christian was 3-for-4 with two RBI as part of Perk’s seven hits. Lillian Kovaleski had a triple and RBI in the loss.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Perkiomen Valley 10, Upper Merion 9

Holli Nuss scored a team-high four goals along with an assist and Leah Pfeiffer added three scores and an assist as Perk Valley won a tight PAC thriller over Upper Merion.

Reagan McLoughlin posted two goals for the Vikings, who also got a goal and an assist from Grace Schaffner. Charlotte Foster made eight saves in goal while also registering three groundballs.

Phoenixville 13, Methacton 5

Erin Reedy was on fire with an eight-goal effort to carry Phoenixville past Methacton in a PAC crossover Wednesday.

Maggie Rost added four scores and Kylie Joyce added one for the Phantoms (9-4).

Bella Catania netted three goals and Renee Blake and Lily DeWan had a goal and assist each for Methacton (5-7).

Upper Perkiomen 16, Norristown 3

Maggie Milkowich and Abby Orsini had hat tricks and Abby Davidheiser, Sarah Fisher (3 assists), Mia Ulmer and Giana Kozminski netted two goals each in Upper Perk’s big win over Norristown Wednesday.

Spring-Ford 15, Pottstown 1

Kristina Cirino and Gianna Dibattista scored two goals each in Spring-Ford’s one-sided win over Pottstown.
