Roundup (April 10): Jones’ 20 saves, balanced offensive attack propel Spring-Ford girls lax past Boyertown

GIRLS LACROSSE

Spring-Ford 15, Boyertown 11

Riley Czapor (1A, 2DC), Lexi Sowers (4A) and Gianna DiBattista (2DC) scored three goals apiece for the Rams, who were also aided by a stellar 20-save performance in goal from Ilyanna Jones. Hailey Mozi (7DC, 2CT) and Megan Ruckman tallied two goals each, with Lindsay Evak (1DC) and Morgan Evak (2CT) also finding the back of the net for Spring-Ford in a tight PAC Liberty battle.

Hannah Adamski (3DC, 1CT) led the Boyertown attack with four goals, while Alina Friz (4GB, 4DC) had two goals and six assists in the losing effort. Kamryn Pier (2G, 2GB), Adi Harner (1G, 1A), Emily Ulrich (1G, 2DC) and Peyton Shellaway (1G, 1A, 3DC) all scored for the Bears as well.

Upper Perkiomen 18, Pottsgrove 7

Upper Perkiomen erupted for 13 first half goals, leading by nine at halftime and cruising to victory in a PAC Frontier showdown. Abby Davidheiser (2DC, 5GB) and Mia Schneider scored six goals apiece for UP, with Ava Senseny (3G, 3DC, 2GB, 2CT) and Sarah Fisher (2G, 1A, 5DC, 4GB) also contributing multi-goal efforts. Mia Ulmer scored a goal for the Indians as well.

Cece Hires (1CT, 3DC), Emily Sorg (2DC) and Vivian Kyler scored two goals each for Pottsgrove. Hannah Kumpf contributed a goal for the Falcons, and Maddie Miller and Kylie Wills teamed up to make six saves in goal.

Perkiomen Valley 24, Norristown 5

Nine different Vikings players tallied goals in a dominant PAC Liberty victory. Leah Pfeiffer scored five goals and tallied her 100th career point, getting multi-goal support from Holli Nuss (4G, 2A), Grace Schaffner (3G, 2A), Anya Vitelli (3G, 1A), Alexis Keysock (2G, 1A) and Lindsay Harrington (2G, 5A). Julia Foley, Sophia Lanza and Grace Miley also found the back of the net for Perk Valley.

Kayla Rivera paced Norristown with three goals and six draw controls, while Alex Carpenter and Nadia Jackson scored for the Eagles as well.

BASEBALL

Upper Perkiomen 8, Boyertown 1

Evan Sands paced a 12-hit Upper Perk performance, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Owen Williams (2-for-4, SB, RBI, R), Cole Pierce (2-for-3, RBI) and Brody Weiss (2-for-4, R) all supplied multiple hits for the Indians. Pierce started on the mound and picked up the win, allowing four hits and an unearned run while striking out three and walking one in 4 ⅔ innings. Aidan Keyser pitched the final 2 ⅓ in relief, yielding no hits or runs while punching out two.

Spring-Ford 15, Pottsgrove 0

Spring-Ford exploded for an 11-run outburst in the top first inning and cruised to a five-inning PAC victory over Pottsgrove. Jake Witmer went 2-for-2 with a double, triple, five RBI and three runs scored for the Rams, and Micah Seitzinger (2-for-4, 2R, 2RBI) and Ryan Fields (1-for-3, 3 RBI, R, SB) each had big days at the plate as well. Nick Flores doubled, stole a base and scored three runs. Logan Babore, Jackson Wowak and Jayson Ehrhart teamed up to throw five scoreless frames for Spring-Ford, scattering three hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Perkiomen School 6, Friends’ Central 4

Erick Diaz and Cesar Lopez stayed hot at the plate, each supplying two-run doubles to lead Perkiomen to its fifth win in six games this season. Bobby Kleckner added an RBI single, and Ryan Stubblefield picked up the win after pitching two innings of relief. Five Perkiomen pitchers combined to allow four runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking five.

Daniel Boone 6, Spring Grove 5

Daniel Boone battled back from a 4-0 deficit, scoring four runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth on a go-ahead home run by Hayden Lee to win at Spring Grove. Anthony Cizmarik and Ryan Pence both added RBI singles for the Blazers, with Zach Hasara earning the win in relief and Blake Jeitles picking up a three-inning save.

SOFTBALL

Upper Perkiomen 15, Phoenixville 3

Upper Perkiomen jumped out to a 5-1 lead after three innings and later shut the door with a four-run sixth and six-run seventh, respectively, in a PAC Frontier win over Phoenixville. Darby Gasda (2-for-4, 2 RBI, R), Elizabeth Proctor (1-for-4, SB, 2RBI, R), Ryan Berg (2-for-3, SB, 2R) and Kristina Molnar (3-for-5, 3B, 2 SB, 2R) all produced big days at the plate for the Indians. Erin Gray pitched six strong innings to pick up the win, allowing one run on six hits with eight strikeouts.

Alina Rakowski (2-for-4, 2R, RBI) and Katie Clarke (3-for-4, SB, 2RBI) teamed up for five of Phoenixville’s nine hits.

Spring-Ford 12, Pottsgrove 1

Every batter in Spring-Ford’s starting lineup had at least one hit scored at least one run, with four players contributing two hits — Addie Eross (2-for-3, RBI, R), Ally Burgess (2-for-3, 2RBI, 2R), Riley Gancasz (2-for-2, 2B, 2RBI, 2R) and Nova Legassie (2-for-3, 2RBI, R). Caitlin Ashley and Nicole Cecconi added two-run doubles for the Rams, and Katie Cecconi pitched five innings of one-run ball to pick up the win, striking out three.
