FOOTBALL: Ches-Mont, Pioneer Athletic Conference enter into non-league scheduling agreement
The Ches-Mont League and Pioneer Athletic Conference have entered into a football scheduling agreement for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The scheduling partnership will see Ches-Mont and PAC teams face off in their third and fourth games of the season.
“As two of the state’s premier leagues, the CM and PAC created this agreement to provide student-athletes, schools and communities with opportunities for competitive, non-league contests,” stated a release sent by the conferences Friday.
Matchups will be determined by enrollment numbers and District 1 power point rankings over a two-year window. The matchups will be determined following the completion of the 2023 season.
The Ches-Mont League consists of 13 schools in two divisions, the American Division featuring Avon Grove (6A) Coatesville (6A), Downingtown East (6A), Downingtown West (6A) and Bishop Shanahan (4A); and the National Division featuring Great Valley (5A), Kennett (5A), Oxford (5A), Sun Valley (5A), Unionville (5A), West Chester East (5A), West Chester Henderson (5A) and West Chester Rustin (5A).
The Pioneer Athletic Conference includes 12 schools in two divisions, the Liberty Division featuring Boyertown (6A), Methacton (5A), Norristown (6A), Owen J. Roberts (6A), Perkiomen Valley (6A) and Spring-Ford (6A); and the Frontier Division comprised of Phoenixville (5A), Pope John Paul II (4A), Pottsgrove (4A), Pottstown (4A), Upper Merion (5A) and Upper Perkiomen (4A).
The one-school discrepancy will result in one Ches-Mont per week being omitted from the crossover schedule and given the opportunity to seek another non-league opponent.
PAC schools will host one week and Ches-Mont the other, according to Pottsgrove athletic director Steve Anspach.
The crossover schedule will be released upon the completion of the 2023 season.
