Recap
Germantown Academy Girls Soccer opened the season with a 2 – 1 victory over visiting Archbishop Wood. Ally Clark opened the scoring when she pounced on a loose ball at the top of the box and punched it into the lower corner of the net. Wood countered just before halftime, picking up a rebound in the penalty box and evening up the score. Late in the second half, GA’s Kiley Kergides found Cassidy Palazzo with a beautiful free kick; Palazzo fought off her defender, dribbled past the goalie and drove the game winner into an open net. GA’s Lily Altamore played well in goal, making two spectacular reaction saves late in the second half to preserve the win.
