Reporter/Times Herald Roundup (Oct. 22): Grenda scores hat trick, Pennridge clinches SOL Colonial Division title
Liv Grenda collected a hat trick and the Pennridge girls soccer team clinched the outright Suburban One League Colonial Division title with a 4-1 victory over visiting Central Bucks South Thursday at Helman Field.
Riley Helper also scored for the Rams (9-1-0, 8-1-0 division), who captured their fifth straight outright SOL titles – the previous four coming in the SOL Continental Conference.
Grenda tallied the game’s first two goals before the Titans (4-5-1, 4-5-1) pulled within 2-1. Helper put Pennridge up 3-1 at the break while Grenda struck for a third in the second half.
BOYS SOCCER
Faith Christian 2, Dock Mennonite 1 (OT) >> Chris Evans volleyed in Luke Perrault’s service into the box in the final minute of the first overtime to give Faith Christian the BAL victory.
Ben Lare gave Dock Mennonite (7-4-0, 6-2-0) the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute off an assist from Justin Detweiler. Faith pulled level early in the second half, Kerian Rea finding the back of the net in the 46th minute off Brenden Moyer’s assist.
Dock goalie Reynaldo Ramos made 11 saves while Lions keeper JR Roberts stopped four shots.
Souderton 1, Central Bucks West 1 >> Souderton’s Thomas Smith scored in the 77th minute off a Ty Quintois assist and the Indians (3-4-3, 3-4-3 SOL Colonial) and Central Bucks West (2-6-2, 2-6-2) played to a 1-1 draw for a second time this season.
Pottsgrove 2, Methacton 0 >> Pottsgrove’s Shane Gleason scored a pair of goals as the Falcons shut out Methacton.
Goalies Charlie Bordonaro and Steve Remish combined to make seven saves for Methacton (3-6-1).
Mike Troutman had an assist for Pottsgrove while goalie Luke Kaiser had one save.
GIRLS SOCCER
Dock Mennonite 3, Delco Christian 0 >> Abby Brown had a goal and assist while Kenzie Derstine and Peyton Scialanca also scored as Dock Mennonite shut out Delco Christian for a BAL win.
Derstine gave the Pioneers the 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, putting a shot low into the far corner off an Ashley Lapp assist. Brown doubled the Dock advantage in the 21st minute scoring from 30 yards out – Tess Bergey with the assist.
Scialanca made it 3-0 Dock in the 69th minute off a Brown corner kick.
Methacton 2, Pottsgrove 1 >> Ruby Murray scored both goals for Methacton – breaking a 1-1 ties five minutes into the PAC contest’s second half on a long shot assisted by Aubrey Beaugard.
Avey Makoid gave Pottsgrove a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute off a corner but Murray tied the game a minute later on a penalty kick after Beaugard was taken down in the box.
Methacton (4-3-2) goalie Mairi Smith stopped four shots while Pottsgrove goalkeeper Corrine Hudock had four saves.
FIELD HOCKEY
Dock Mennonite 2, Jenkintown 0 >> Celeste Derstine collected a goal and an assist as Dock Mennonite stayed clinched the BAL title with a shutout victory on Senior Night.
Derstine assisted on Ainsley Moyer’s goal at 7:43 in the second quarter. In the third, Derstine made it 2-0 Dock (11-0-0) at 11:05 off a Sarah Curry assist.
Goalie Casey Harper made three saves for the Pioneers. Jenkintown keeper Lauren Brockwell had 10 saves.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Souderton 3, Dock Mennonite 0 >> Alysaa Reiner had 14 kills, 10 aces and four digs while Nikki Hamilton collected 14 assists, seven digs and three aces as Souderton swept Dock Mennonite for a nonleague victory.
Gwen Anderson handed out 10 assists for the Indians with McKenna Murawski adding eight digs, five kills and three aces. Souderton finished with 20 aces.
Central Bucks West 3, Quakertown 0 >> Maggic McCusker had 13 assists, seven digs and two kills, Jordyn Klementovich posted 13 digs and three aces and Central Bucks West swept Quakertown 25-5, 25-10, 26-14 for an SOL Continental Conference win.
Mackenzie Lund recorded seven kills and a pair of blocks for West. The Bucks’ Brie Livezey had four digs, three kills and an ace, Sydney White collected four aces and two digs and Alexis Barklage chipped in three kills and three blocks.
