Recap
Today, the Hill School Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team traveled to The Hun School of Princeton for a MAPL Conference match-up. This was a thrilling game with both teams going back and forth with goals, big defensive plays, goalie saves, and draw controls. Two very evenly matched teams out on the turf today. Hill showed great team play and mental toughness in this one. Being down by 4 goals at one point, the team struck back slowly, one at a time. Hill also found themselves playing the final ten minutes of regulation down a man for the rest of the game due to too many yellow cards. With less than five minutes to go, Hill found themselves up by a goal and trying to kill the clock for the W. Hun would not go down without a fight, working to get the ball back and scoring with 15 seconds left in regulation. As the play went into overtime, possession changed hands a few times, but Hill found themselves down on the attack with 15 seconds left before taking a time out, setting up the final play, and Makena Hanson ’17 hitting an open Erin Kelly ’17 for the game winning goal with 7.2 seconds left on the clock. The coaching staff is very proud of the team today and never giving up! Hill has less than 24 hours to enjoy this victory before they take on Friends Central at 4:15 on Thursday afternoon at Cunningham Turf in a non-Conference game.
