BOYS LACROSSE
Pennridge 17, Springfield Montco 5: Ryan Carickhoff scored five goals in the Rams win Friday. Drew Ferguson added three goals and four assists, Frank Fanelli three goals and two assists and Matt Kriney three goals and one assist.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Abington 11, Souderton 3: The Ghosts jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first half and never looked back Friday. Carly Gavetti, Tatum Andrews and Ava Jones scored for Souderton.
BOYS TENNIS
Perk Valley 4, Upper Merion 3: Perk Valley won three of the four doubles matches in a PAC win Thursday. Dominick Doan and Elan Kuznits won singles matches for Upper Merion – 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
BASEBALL
North Penn 2, Neshaminy 0: Trevor Lugara pitched a three-hit shutout and North Penn broke through with a run in the top of the sixth then added another in the seventh to earn its fourth straight victory.
Lugara struck out six while allowing just one walk for the Knights (8-1, 6-1 SOL Colonial) while Jack Picozzi went 2-for-3 with a double.
Henry Wetzel gave North Penn a 1-0 lead with a two-out RBI single in the sixth. Kevin Brace doubled the advantage in the seventh with his RBI sacrifice fly.
Central Bucks West 6, Council Rock South 1: Kevin Bukowski and Max McGlone began the bottom of the first with back-to-back home runs as Central Bucks West scored five times in the inning and the Bucks went on to extend their win streak to nine.
Will Hogenauer went 2-for-3 while Luke Birkhead had a two-RBI double in the first for West (9-1, 6-1 SOL Colonial). Starting pitcher Cayden Wertz earned the victory in a five-inning effort, allowing one run – earned – on four hits, walking four and striking out five.
Council Rock South’s John Mendola, who finished 2-for-3, hit a solo home run in the top of the first. After consecutive homers by Bukowski and McGlone made it 2-1 West, a Luke Birkhead two-RBI double and Alex Valdes’ RBI single had West up 5-1.
Truman 5, Souderton 4: Souderton scored twice in the top of the sixth to pull even 4-4 but Caleb Wright gave Truman the SOL crossover victory with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh
Chris McKenna was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Indians (5-4, 4-3 SOL Colonial), who also tied the game 2-2 with two runs in the third before the Tigers plated two in the fifth to go up 4-2. In the top of the sixth, a Liam O’Leary single and an error brought in two Souderton runs to knot things at four.
Gabe Marrero went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored for Truman (5-3, 4-3 SOL Patriot) while Wyatt Spinks was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Hatboro-Horsham 15, Lower Moreland 0 (5): Stephen Plefka was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while also pitching a two-hit, five-inning shutout, walking two and striking out three as Hatboro-Horsham picked up an SOL crossover victory.
Noah Schlosser went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice for the Hatters (7-3, 4-3 SOL Liberty), who plated four runs in the top of the first then went up 10-0 in the second. Jaxson Bumpus was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored while Aidan Eckley and Trey Porter both had two runs scored.
Pennsbury 6, Pennridge 0: Pennridge’s Nick Leight and Joey Santora each went 2-for-3 as the visiting Rams were shut out in the SOL crossover.
Ryan Zuckerman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of third to give Pennsbury a 3-0 lead. He also doubled in finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jordan Czerniak went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while L Nelson was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Falcons (8-2, 5-2 SOL Patriot). Pennridge fell to 0-11 (0-7 SOL Colonial).
Plymouth Whitemarsh 11, New Hope-Solebury 6: Colin Brady, Johnny Giordano and Gavin Rocks each had three hits as Plymouth Whitemarsh totals 18 hits as the Colonials claimed a third straight win.
Brady was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs, Giordano finished 3-for-3 and scored twice while Rocks went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. PW put up two runs in the top of the first, four in the third to lead 6-0. New Hope-Solebury scored a run in the fifth but the Colonials plated five in their half of the seventh to go up 11-1.
Chase Olszyk went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for PW with Tyler Gartland going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Quakertown 11, Springfield-Montco 1 (5): Cole Reich was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs and Quakertown pulled away by scoring the game’s last eight runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Dan Qualteria went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored with Nate Scheetz finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored for the Panthers (3-7, 2-5 SOL Liberty). Carter Kochel hit a two-RBI single in the fourth while two batters later Daniel Schwalm had a two-RBI triple.
Father Judge 10, Central Bucks East 9 (8): Central Bucks East led 9-6 after three innings but Father Judge rallied for a walk-off, extra-inning nonleague win on Jaden DeLuca’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
Nolan Behm went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for East while Thomas Cano-Piszel was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Nick Mutchler collected two RBIs, Joey Wilga scored three runs while Chase Harland scored twice.
Nick Shiffler was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Judge.
SOFTBALL
Hatboro-Horsham 15, Lower Moreland 2 (5): Amya Lundy hit a two-run home run in the third then did it again in the fourth, Adriana DeLeon and Tess Kearney each collected three hits and Hatboro-Horsham cruised to its third straight win.
Kearney was 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBIs and scored twice while DeLeon went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run scored for the Hatters (5-5, 5-2 SOL Liberty), who answered Lower Moreland’s run in the top of the first with seven in their half of the frame.
Lundy finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs. Madison Karpovich had two RBIs and Cara Neeld had two runs scored.
Liz Neeld went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for the Lions (4-4, 2-3 SOL Freedom).
Pennsbury 5, Pennridge 3: Pennridge rallied to erase a 3-0 deficit in the top of the sixth, a R. Bauman RBI double and Averi Dockery’s two-run home run pulling the Rams level. But Pennsbury answered by scoring twice in the top of the seventh and held on and snapped Pennridge’s four-game winning streak.
Ryleigh Lilly was 3-for-4 with a double for the Rams (6-4, 4-3 SOL Colonial) while Grace Helbling went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Dockery took the loss despite striking out 15 in a complete-game effort, she gave up five runs – none earned – on six hits and two walks.
Plymouth Whitemarsh 15, New Hope-Solebury 3 (5): Madison Moran’s solo home run started a six-run first inning in the Colonials win Friday.
Maddie Carr had her first two varsity hits as well as two RBIs and a run scored for PW (8-3, 6-1 SOL LIibety). Grace Carney struck out eight batters in four innings of work. Joslyn Perez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored while Marissa Perez was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Souderton 11, Truman 0 (5): Cameron Nadolski and Kayley York both hit home runs in the bottom of first inning while Souderton pulled away by scoring its last seven runs in the third.
Nadolski also doubled as she finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. York was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. McKenna Schroding struck out nine in pitching a one-hit, five-inning shutout for the Indians (6-5, 4-3 SOL Colonial).
Lily Ponce went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and scored twice while Kendall Clemmer went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Central Bucks East 6, Council Rock South 1: Central Bucks East led 3-1 after four then added three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Elise Waddington two-RBI double and Sara Camposano’s RBI single as the Patriots snapped an eight-game losing skid.
Waddington went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored while Kaylee Masteron was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Anna Devine scored twice for East (2-8, 1-5 SOL Colonial).
