States wait worth it for Radnor girls lacrosse
A three-day wait did nothing to dampen the Radnor offense, which exploded for 11 first-half goals in trouncing Parkland, 15-3, in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A girls lacrosse tournament Friday afternoon.
The win sends Radnor (18-5) into the PIAA quarterfinals Saturday. The fifth seed from District 1 will run up against District 1 runner-up Harriton, which the Raiders beat 23-11 on April 4. Saturday’s game is at West Chester East at 2 p.m.
Cate Cox led the offense with three goals and three assists. Cierra Hopson, Sarah Nelson, Tori DiCarlo and Ellie Mueller scored twice each. Cox also had three assists. DiCarlo added an assist, three draw controls and three groundballs, while Mueller had a team-high five DCs. Nelson pitched in with two draw controls. Phoebe Proctor made seven saves and caused three turnovers against the District 11 champs.
