Mercury Lacrosse Roundup: Hill boys lose lead, game to Academy of New Church

Ac. of New Church 6, Hill School 5 >> After taking a 5-1 lead midway through the second quarter, the Blues’ offense went silent for the remainder of the game as Academy of the New Church chipped away at the four-goal deficit and earned a come-from-behind win.
Hill, led by sharp-shooting junior Carter Page (three goals), scored the first four of the second quarter. The visitors tallied three times during the final frame, and although Hill was able to call a timeout and set up a play with 30 seconds remaining, they failed to score and ANC ran out the clock.
Girls lacrosse
Mount St. Joseph 18, Pope John Paul II 8 >> Kallan Bustynowicz reached the 100-goal scoring mark in the course of the Golden Panthers’ non-league game with Mount St. Joseph.
Bustynowicz’s second goal of the day put her at triple digits. She was joined in two-goal status by teammates Julie Cherneskie and Rory Nilson, with Kasie Costalas and Maeve Riley rounding out the PJP point production.
Upper Merion 19, Jenkintown 8 >> Cat Merritt netted the 100th goal of her scholastic career while keying the Vikings’ non-league win over Jenkintown.
Merritt scored four times for UM, which was led by Riley O’Malley’s five goals and two assists. Ashleigh Struckus chipped in with a hat trick, and Anya Waller with 12-save goaltending.
