Owen J. Roberts’ Gebert named regional All-American
Owen J. Roberts senior midfielder Maddie Gebert was named to the Philadelphia Region girls lacrosse All-American team by the U.S. Lacrosse Association on Wednesday.
Gebert, who is committed to play at Temple University next season, has led Owen J. Roberts to two consecutive Pioneer Athletic Conference Championships and has helped the Wildcats to the quarterfinal round of the PIAA Championships. She currently leads the team in scoring (88 goals) as well as points (102). It marks the second time in Gebert’s career that she was named an All-American, as she was honored as a junior last season.
In related PAC-10 news, standout senior attacks Sara Hughes (Methacton) and Morgan Rynn (Upper Perkiomen) were both named to the Philadelphia Region Girls Lacrosse Academic All-American team by U.S. Lacrosse.
Hughes led the Warriors in scoring this past season, with with 64 goals to go along with nine assists as Methacton made its second consecutive PAC-10 Championship appearance. She is committed to attend Saint Joseph’s University in the fall.
Rynn finished first on Upper Perkiomen in points (88) and was second in scoring (63 goals), behind only Hope Flack with 66 scores. Rynn will continue her lacrosse career at George Mason in the fall. Upper Perk earned a trip to the PAC-10 Final Four, where the Tribe suffered an opening-round loss to Methacton.
Brine National
Two Pottsgrove girls lacrosse players were selected to the Brine National Classic to be played in Richmond, Virginia next month.
Sophomore Brooke Saylor and freshman Emily Williams were both selected to represent Pennsylvania in the tournament.
Saylor led Pottsgrove in scoring with 15 goals to go along with four assists this past season while Williams scored 12 goals and had three assists.
