Walsh’s layup leads Haverford to double-OT win
Haverford made the most of its time in Florida in terms of minutes on the court. A win Sunday made the trip even sweeter.
Sara Walsh’s layup off a feed from Annalena O’Reilly with 31 seconds left in the second overtime led Haverford to a 50-49 win over Walton-Verona of Kentucky in the Palm Beach Holiday Classic.
Walsh finished with five points, one of six Fords with at least five points. Erin Doherty led the balanced effort with 10 points to go with six steals, five rebounds and four assists. Erin Kelly hit three 3-pointers to tally nine points.
O’Reilly and Lindsey Lane scored eight points apiece, while Arden Guilfoil added six. The Fords were undaunted by letting an 11-point lead entering the fourth quarter slip.
At the Boardwalk Classic:
Strath Haven 30, Egg Harbor Twp. 27 >> Alisha Lewis scored a team-high 12 points to go with four assists and four steals as the Panthers claimed the championship game of the Michelle Tarbotton-Rucci Bracket in Wildwood, N.J.
