Walsh dials long distance to set Notre Dame record
Academy of Notre Dame senior guard Casey Walsh made school history Friday.
Walsh broke a 20-year-old, single-game record with nine 3-pointers to lead Notre Dame to a 58-44 Inter-Ac League victory over Baldwin.
Walsh poured in a game-high 29 points on 10 field goals to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Jill Kane scored 17 points and made five long-distance shots for the Irish (9-7 overall, 4-3 league).

Episcopal Academy 61, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 40 >> Seanna McNamara had the hot hand early for the Churchwomen, hitting four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 18 points. Elodie Furey flirted with a triple-double, posting 17 points, nine rebounds, six blocks and four steals. Luca Mamula added 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals, while Reilly Wright tossed in 12 points for Episcopal (10-6, 7-0).
In the Central League:
Garnet Valley 45, Harriton 29 >> Emily McAteer scored 11 of her game-high 24 points in the third quarter to help the Jaguars (13-1, 10-0) stay undefeated in the league. Brianne Borcky finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Nicole Barnes added five steals and five assists for the Jags.
Springfield 51, Ridley 35 >> Senior guard Maggie O’Connell had 12 points and three assists to lead the Cougars (14-1, 9-1) to victory on senior night. Springfield jumped out to a 17-5 advantage after one quarter and never looked back.
Amanda Hopkins finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Jordan D’Ambrosio netted 10 points for the Cougars, who won their 11th straight.
Izzy Hamlin scored 13 points for the Green Raiders.
Radnor 45, Haverford 32 >> Allison Lanzone had six of her 12 points in the third quarter, when the Raiders (10-4, 7-5) outscored the Fords, 17-7. Lanzone also grabbed six rebounds and made eight steals.
Freshman Ellie Mueller scored nine of her 11 points in the first half, while Nicole Massimino tossed in 10 points for Radnor.
Erin Doherty paced Haverford with 10 points.
Marple Newtown 43, Upper Darby 27 >> Olivia Young and Devon Adams powered the Tigers (8-5, 5-5) with 13 points apiece. Emma Blewett scored 14 points in the loss for UD.
Lower Merion 55, Strath Haven 37 >> Morgan Crain scored 12 points and Olivia Fender chipped in with nine for the Panthers.
Conestoga 48, Penncrest 31 >> Megan Arndt dropped in a team-high 13 points for the Lions, but that wasn’t enough against Katie Mayock and the Pioneers (13-1). Mayock outscored the Lions in the first half, 10-8. She finished with 18 points.
In the Catholic League:
Archbishop Wood 34, Cardinal O’Hara 20 >> The Lions (9-4, 5-2) couldn’t get on track against the reigning Catholic League and PIAA Class 3A champion Vikings. Mary Sheehan had seven points, but the Lions were limited to six points in the second half.
Neumann-Goretti 62, Archbishop Carroll 26 >> Molly Masciantonio’s 10-point, five-rebound effort was little consolation for the Patriots (11-4, 6-2), who were outscored, 34-7, in the first half.
In nonleague action:
Sacred Heart 44, Delco Christian 22 >> Kyra Quigley was busy early on for the Lions, who outscored the visiting Knights, 19-3, in the opening period. Quigley had eight of her game-high 14 points in the first quarter to go with 10 rebounds and four blocks. Jaycee Webster swished three 3-pointers for nine points and Eileen Piombino added seven points for Sacred Heart.
Taylor Mingle led Delco Christian with 10 points.
