Vigo leads Hill School to Hill Tournament crown
Sophomore Qiana Vigo scored 16 of her game-high 22 points during the first quarter as The Hill School narrowly edged Springside-Chesnut Hill 48-46 in the Hill Tournament championship game on Saturday evening.
Vigo did most of her damage during the second quarter, where she knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and shot 3-for-4 from the free throw line (6-for-12 for the game).
The Hill moves to 2-0 to start the season, on the heels on Friday night’s 40-9 win over Perkiomen School. SCH drops to 1-1, after winning their opening round game, 79-33 over Princeton Day School on Friday.
Fifth-year senior Kelly Ebner, from Wilson High School, backed Vigo with 10 points, including a clean 4-for-4 sowing at the free throw line during the fourth quarter. Bridget Mayza added eight points while Maia Lockhart followed with six.
The Hill led 26-16 at the half, but SCH brought it closer during the third quarter behind Nya Searight’s eight points in the quarter (team-high 15 points for the game). Caroline Clark and Mo’ne Davis each added nine points.
