Girls Basketball

Plymouth Whitemarsh 57, Scranton Prep 42 >> Jordyn Thomas scored 18 points, 10 in the first quarter as the Colonials (11-0) raced out to a 32-15 halftime advantage and picked up the nonconference win on Saturday.

Lainey Allen added 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Abby Sharpe chipped in with 15 for PW. Scranton Prep did rally in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to single digits but Fiona Gooneratne answered with a deep 3-pointer to get the lead back over 10 points.

Pope John Paul II 54, Pottsgrove 16 >> The Golden Panthers raced out to a 22-0 lead after one quarter and coasted to the PAC win on Saturday. Amelia Kennedy and Tess Crossan each scored 14 points to pace PJP II.

Boys Basketball

Plumstead Christian 54, Jenkintown 31 >> The Drakes were outscored 31-12 in the first half and dropped the BAL contest on Saturday. Tommy Walsh paced Jenkintown with 14 points.

Dock Mennonite 52, Faith Christian 28 >> Dock used a 27-point 3rd quarter to blow open a tight game, and cruised to the win on the road at Faith. Nathan Lapp paced Dock with 16 points and Hoyt Bultje grabbed 13 rebounds. Tony Martin contributed great defense as Dock improved to 12-2 overall, and 8-0 in BAL play.

Pope John Paul II 53, Pottsgrove 42 >> JP Baron was at it again, scoring 16 points to lead the Golden Panthers the PAC victory on Saturday. Kevin Green added 11 points for PJP II.

SCH Academy 60, Germantown Academy 49 >> The Patriots were outscored 22-8 in the fourth quarter and dropped the game on Saturday. Casey Traina scored 15 points and Blake Smith chipped in with 14 for the Patriots.

Haverford 50, Pennridge 44 >> The Rams trailed by just two points entering the fourth quarter, but fell short on Saturday. Matt Campione led Pennridge with 15 points, while Tommy Cramer added 13.

Methacton 60, Perkiomen Valley 39 >> The Warriors remained a perfect 12-0 with a 60-39 home win over Perk Valley.

Cole Hargrove scored 12 of his game high 18 points in the second half when the Warriors went on a 36-21 run to close the game out. Brett Byrne added 15, while Matt Christian added 14 points and four 3-pointers.

Wrestling

Garnet Valley 43, North Penn 24 >> The Knights dropped the match on Saturday despite winning four bouts. Winning by fall for North Penn were Michael Cliver at 138 and Amir Rose at 215.

Downingtown West 42, North Penn 29 >> The Knights won six bouts but dropped the match at the Big Red Duals on Saturday. Winning by fall were Will Morrow at 152, Nick Ray at 160 and Dylan Verway at 172.

Wissahickon at Big Red Duals >> The Trojans traveled to Souderton High School for the Big Red Duals on Saturday After a rough start, the Trojans came back to win their last two meets, going 2-2 on the day. The team lost to Pennsbury 70-4 and Downingtown West 63-12, then defeating Hanover 48-30 and Avon Grove 42-36.

Outstanding performances were put in by Nathanael Chez (3-1), Evan Prestipino (3-1) and Ryan Lee (2-0). Next up is crosstown rival Upper Dublin on Wednesday night at Wissahickon to compete for the Ambler/Fireside Cup.
