Souderton 57, Strath Haven 49 >> Aleks Smith led the way with 23 points as the Indians picked up a win in the WC Rustin Tournament on Tuesday. Jay Bonnet chipped in with 11 points, while Chris Towsen scored 10.
Upper Dublin 54, WC Rustin 34 >> Upper Dublin returned to action Tuesday night after a 10 day hiatus with COVID-19 and defeated host school WC Rustin 54-34. The Cardinals (4-1) were led by junior DJ Cersier with 13 points. The Cardinals will take on Souderton on Wednesday.
Governor Mifflin 73, Pennridge 64 >> Matt Campione scored 19 points, including two 3-pointers but the Rams fell short at the Boyertown Tournament on Tuesday. Pennridge hung tough in the firt half, but were outscored 32-24 in the second half. Jude D’Agostino chipped in with 15 points, while Xavier Peters scored 12 for Pennridge (1-6), which will face the loser of Boyertown and Avon Grove on Wednesday.
Norristown 54, Lower Moreland 52 >> DJ Johnson scored 14 points as the Eagles picked up the win at the Dick Dougherty Tournament in Bensalem. John Dinolfi added 13 for Norristown.
Upper Merion 48, Unionville 4 >> Kalil Lawson had a team-high 17 points for the Vikings in Tuesday’s non-league game with Unionville. Zayd Etheridge kicked in another 12 for UM, which used a 14-10 edge in fourth-quarter scoring to secure the win.
Dock 60, New Hope 40 >> Tomir Johnson and Nathan Lapp combined for 42 points as Dock beat New Hope in the Dock Holiday Tournament. Dock improves to 7-1 with the win and will play Dobbins for the championship on Wednesday night.
Girls basketball
Souderton 48, Mechanicsburg 31 >> Teya McConnaha scored 18 points and added 14 rebounds as the Indians won big on Tuesday at the Reading Christmas Tournament. Erin Bohmueller played a solid all-around game with 6 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds for Souderton. Priya Lorean and Cassie Eager each scored 11 points for Mechanisburg.
Archbishop Carroll 68, WC Rustin 37 >> The Patriots went on a 19-9 run in the second quarter and coasted from there at the O’Hara Tournament on Tuesday. Drexel recruit Grace O’Neill led the way with 23 points, including 5 three-pointers. Junior Taylor Wilson added 16 points and 8 boards, and soph sister Brooke Wilson chipped in with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Next up for Carroll is a game against Episcopal Academy at 6 pm Wednesday.
Delone Catholic 52, Pennridge 43 >> The Rams came storming back from a 12-point halftime deficit, but fell short in the fourth quarter. The Rams tied the game up at 35 entering the final frame, but were outscored 17-8 in the fourth. Katie Yoder paced Pennridge with 13 points, while Anna Croyle added 12.
PW 50, Haverford 35 >> Lainey Allen led a balanced PW attack with 19 points as the Colonials (4-0) picked up another win at the Diamond State Classic on Tuesday. Erin Daley added 11, Kaitlyn Flanagan 8 and Fiona Gooneratne added 2 threes. The PW defense was led by Jordyn Thomas, who helped hold Haverford standout Caroline Dotsy to one made field goal through the first three quarters. PW will play its third game in three days against Caravel Academy on Wednesday night.
Lansdale Catholic 60, Boyertown 30 >> The Crusaders went on a 24-5 second-quarter run and coasted to the win over the host school on Tuesday. Gabby Casey paced LC with 20 points.
