Ridley’s Wadsworth, Springfield’s O’Brien race to photo finish
Ridley’s Kiera Wadsworth and Springfield’s Megan O’Brien touched the wall at the same time in the final leg of the 400 freestyle relay and that was enough for the Green Raiders to secure a 94-91 victory over the Cougars in the Central League.
Wadsworth also was first in the 50 and 500 freestyle. Teammate Gab Rudy, who led off the 400 free relay, also was first in the 100 and 200 freestyles for the Green Raiders.
Georgia Apostolu took first in the 200 IM and the 100 back, and was on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays for Springfield. Teammate Carly Swartz led off both of those relays and was first in the 100 butterfly.
Penncrest 98, Upper Darby 75 >> Claire Walsh and Shannon Jackson won three events apiece to pace the Lions. Both were on the winning 200 medley relay. Walsh also touched the wall first in the 200 and 500 free, while Jackson won the 50 and 100 free. Julia Colizzo (200 medley relay, 200 IM) also was a double winner for Penncrest.
Strath Haven 100, Radnor 86 >> Three wins each from Frances Resweber (200 and 500 free, 400 free relay) and Summer Martin (50 and 100 free, 400 free relay) powered the Panthers. Julia Cullen was a quadruple winner for the Raiders.
Garnet Valley 96, Marple Newtown 78 >> Four wins each from Alexa Hipp and Jenna Buttermore paced the Jaguars. Hipp won the 200 freestyle and was on all three winning relay teams. Buttermore touched the wall first in the 50 free and 100 butterfly, and was on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay squads.
